I am thinking of adding oil pulling to my routine.

Has anyone here tried oil pulling? if so, Was it beneficial for you?

The reported benefits are improved gum health, reducing cavities formation and a few others.  :hi:

I tried it about 2 years ago. I didn't see any benefits, so stopped.

+1

It's OK, but I wouldn't use it before seeing a WG, for example.

I think coconut oil is the best oil & the most popular choice of oil when oil pulling.

Good luck with that. Very few alternative treatments indeed are proven effective by proper statistically valid testing.

To swoosh a spoonful of oil or indeed anything around your mouth for 15 minutes would require you not to swallow for that period of time - is that actually physically possible, would you not be drowning in saliva  ?

It is possible as it's pretty thick. You can feel it getting in between your teeth.  I now use the tepe EasyPick picks

Waiting in anticipation for clarification

Not sure about this, waste of good oil IMO. I'll just stick to brush, floss and ordinary mouthwash routine.

For flossing I used to use the rolls of dental floss fibre but my dentist pointed out that this was self-evidently ineffective for removing detritis and that i should use Tepe brushes.

In fact I now use a cordless high pressure irrigator after breakfast. Absurdly cheap at <£10 and remarkably efficient.Tepe brush before bedtime.

I really wish I'd had the facility to do this all the 80-odd years my life. Might still have a full complement of teeth if I had.

I have got a waterpik which cost me £50 from Argos. The trouble thing with the waterpiks  or atleast the one I have got is that you have to keep charging it after every couple of days.

I also wait atleast one hour after eating or drinking anything other than water before brushing my teeth.
I did hear that the uk is one of the worst in Europe for dental health. I think dental health is important as poor dental hygiene can also lead to low immunity and so makes it easier for them individuals to catch colds, flus & any other illness that can be spread from person to person.

The use of floss can result in loose teeth, which I think is why it has fallen in popularity. The TePe brushes and easypick picks do a good job of cleaning the gaps between your teeth. My hygienist put me on to the easypick picks.

A big part of the dental hygiene issue in the UK is the lack of NHS dentists.

Of an evening you've had some eats / drinks & are feeling cream crackered
Do you not bother cleaning your teeth before retiring or do you stay up an xtra hour to then clean your teeth ? [setting a timer etc]
A dilemma if there ever was one  ;)

I have not retired. No way near the retirement age but beside that point.

Not a issue for me as I don't eat late anyhow. Its only a hour to wait before brushing.

I was referenced retiring as in getting some 💤
Thanks for the clarification
Me neither thankfully

At least we both know how long an hour lasts
Tho i've become a bit of a fan of 45 mins
You could give it a try on the brushing timeline
No one will know apart from you

Your meaning of 'retiring' was obvious to me?
