Interesting report in yesterdays Times of a scam involving a set of headphones ordered from China's equivalent of Ebay although apparently it happens on several platforms.

Basically you receive a faulty set and when you complain you are asked to return it but are actually given the name and address of another new customer with specific instructions not to include any details of the fault or your address. So this individual set of headphones are probably sold 9 or 10 times before the platform eventually closes down the scam.

Wonder who first thought of this ingenious scam

The moral of the story is never buy anything from Chinese Web sites  :dash:

Indeed. Or any cheap tat made in China from stalls. I got a cheap light bulb that was made in China. When I got it home I noticed on the box that it said "blub" rather than bulb(!). Needless to say it conked out after just a few weeks.

Who in their right mind would return something faulty without clearly detailing what the fault is and your own name so they know who's returning them.

Want to return something?? get the seller to send you a returns form and label.

I suppose they say they had recorded details of the fault and could give you a returns code or even a little slip to print with XYZ123 and tell you that is all you need to enclose

As far as I'm concerned only those with GUM on their forehead should fall for that.
