Author Topic: SP's who only accept bank transfer - not cash  (Read 1127 times)

Hi

I've come across a couple of new SP's in the last 2 weeks who refuse to take cash and will only accept a bank transfer.

I refused as I don't want to visit an SP with my bank card, normal phone and card reader just to set up a new payee on my punting bank account.

Anyone else finding this?

My thoughts are that this is usually a scammer operation.

They say they only accept bank transfer you make the booking , they give directions and just as you turn up they ask for the payment or at least a deposit before giving you the final details (which will never come).

I had one on Vivastreet in Chelmsford, who insisted on cash. I said I was nearby and no problem I'll transfer the deposit.

Just so that I know you're genuine, I'm in your street, can you tell me what colour is the BMW parked on the road opposite your building.

I made that up, but you can guess the outcome.

Scammer is what I thought - that's why I never took it any further.

Also, wasn't even aware of the cash app.

I've paid by bank transfer a few times at my request. Generally because I'd rather do that than wander around with a wad of notes.
So long as I pay there and then same as I would with cash, and not in advance I don't see what the problem is.
