Dickie Davies has passed away at 94 year old, and in my youth, this would be a normal Sat afternoon watching tv, and football results

RIP

You'd have to be of a certain vintage to remember DD in his pomp. I feel so old!   :D

Likewise, I grew up watching World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon.  I did not know he was still alive until you mentioned him passing away . A good age to live to though.

World of Sport….and of course Saturday afternoon wrestling included in the line up.

Yeah, wrestling on at about 4 o clock just before the football results at about 10 minutes to 5 . Not forgetting Saint and Greavsie

Same here. I used to love 'World of Sport'. It covered a wider range of sports than BBC's Grandstand. I used to like watching the speedway, and the rallycross. RIP Dickie.

 World of Sport used to be far better than Grandstand because it showed a greater variety sports from what I remember.  Used to love watching the speedway ( in fact I still do) I remember the late Dave Lanning doing the commentary ( he used to commentate on the darts too ) Grandstand just seemed to be horse racing and  golf.  Watching speedway on World of Sport really got me interested in the sport in it's boom years of the 70's and 80's.

Dickie as a presenter was the consummate professional .... plenty of sports presenters on TV now could learn a few things from him
As has been said World Of Sport in its day was very innovative showing many different & unusual sports

PS; Always remenber the sketch by Benny Hill which is a parody of World Of Sport .. its on You Tube and is brilliant

RIP Dickie .. legend
