Two or three weeks ago folk were there dragging a fair quantity of stuff out. I thought someone was maybe gutting it to start work but obviously not. Just some sort of clear out.

The price does seem quite reasonable.

Who’s for clubbing together then?

The only use I can think of is to convert it into a sex museum.

Looks as if the owner has applied for planning permission to convert into two flats..

For those of you who remember Aquarius in Glasgow's Park Circus the buyers did a decent job, taking their time refurbishing the property which was then advertised just a year or so ago, with local news articles - bucks are there to be made for those who aren't bashful.

Offline Forthports

Plenty of photos of the interior in the background papers, quite interesting for those of us who never managed a visit.

They could have one of the rooms dedicated to all your previous guises.

You wonder if the people living in the ex-brothels are aware of it's previous use. Was surprised to be walking past the old Venus sauna and it had turned into a fancy looking wee house. Then you got flats girls would operate out and maybe when they leave don't get decorated by the landlord/New owner. You'd certaintly look differently at those random marks on the walls.

Offline TomB22

Lack of windows will make it a very strange flat. Not sure I would like to live somewhere without any natural light.

little doubt that the owners of the property are looking at a profit of several hundred per cent, my mate used to rent the property next door as an artists workshop, as ive observed before its the price of real estate that is the real threat to saunas, those of us who actually visit them, know that they are very busy, a future solution if worse comes to the worst, is moving to industrial parks, on the outskirts, or airbnb but featuring scottie girls, not third world tourers, who dont speak english, and have a pisspoor attitude to life, and charge a fortune.

I'm not sure why only those who visit them would know about them or why they shouldn't be able to comment.   :unknown:

Interesting photo of the rear entrance (ooh er missus). I recall one former receptionist telling me of the time he turned up on a Saturday morning after a night of liquid refreshment and having realised he'd forgotten the keys, broke in via the back door. Veterans of LSS could probably hazard a guess as to his identity. :D

Room 3 also shown was the domain of the legendary Lisa as she said that and 4 were always the warmest first thing. Not even the management would dare send her elsewhere  :D ;)

I never heard about that. I'm guessing Justin broke in. A receptionist also mentioned a time when everyone was locked in. I cant remember the details, but it could have been because Ricky was in a pub with the keys.

My first visit there was 1993, my last was in 2015. It was my go to place in the 90s and a bit after. It was amazing in its heyday and its very sad that its going to vanish without trace. Maybe it could be a A listed building, where both the interior and exterior must remain intact, preserved for future generations. :)

2000-2013 for me. Ironically I only discovered this forum the year after. :dash:

Having started off at the dreadful Ambassador Sauna the discovery of LSS was like moving from Albion Rovers to Barcelona. One Saturday morning in 2002 I went there and the line up was Lisa, Kerry, Carrie, Melanie, Jennifer, Rachel and Shari....possibly the greatest Scottish team of all time. :D

The only reason why is that this particular member can't seem to stop running his mouth/making digs at another particular member, even after repeated warnings to stop doing so

Internally, the premises comprises of a kitchen, laundry room, W.C facilities, and various well-proportioned rooms across both levels.

well proportioned rooms.... they used to say that about the girlies.... lol

sad times to see this go... in its hayday an absolute blast of a place.

Trainspotting 2 filmed a scene in there.

and there we go.... end of an era.

Only ever went once, and didn't feel comfortable. My preference was for New Town, and Blair St, and I notice those two are still going.

First sauna I went to Justin on reception, really put this young nervous punter that I was at ease and Lisa did the same, showed me round. That place was amazing back in the day.

Place was a goldmine. For years it was run, as any good sauna should be. Always found it the most welcoming too.

Have to say the price is very tempting...

rumour had it was run to the book, see if it could be legalised. but thats prob gossip.

loved lisa. had a few satuday afternoons humpin that girl... babe indeed. and those were the times old Davey ran it. when he went it slipped and then once the girls were running it.... totally different. wonder if covid had not happened if it would still be running.

Doubt it. It was dead right before covid hit.

Maybe Davie going brought in a different way of , or something else killed it. other saunas seem to be going but London Street.... it went from the jewel in the crown, slipped away it did.

Maybe the internet and adult work saw its demise, or blokes no longer interested in these places. Was full of chinese a few days a week, and anytime Id been in it was busy. the late ninties there were some great lassies... decent ones indeed. then the europeans started to take off.once the europeans left ? could be brexit that killed them.

Several factors, including some you've mentioned, were at play. lousy management was the main factor.

Offline ruggedscot

remember that you used to get BBBJ in there, that was a given....

management rule so to speak... then that stopped left it up to the lassies... and they stopped unless you wanted to pay extra...

and well it was a bit of a difference the last few years...

Offline the fitter

BBBJ was a management rule at one time in Blair Street is that not the rule now.

Offline ruggedscot

It was a management rule through the majority of the saunas....

OWO BBBJ what ever it was called it made a difference.... They said that if a girl 'had dental work' and wasnt giving it she didnt get many bookings at all.

Was a few ones that tried that over the years, and was never unclean always clean soaped and washed before going down... so maybe they didnt like the taste of soap. But it was a deal breaker for me... glasgow never did the owo was always 'doms... so it was a trip through to edinburgh. and bingo. First sauna in edinburgh was the now defunct Scorpio's never knew of the oral without, and when it was discovered... glasgow was kicked into touch. always went through and ended up trying a few and it was always oral without. some did cim some didnt and some charged extra. a few lassies tried to offer sex without, but they soon disappeared.

Aye times like that will never come back. was too easy.... and relatively cheap... these days not so much. actually when saunas are approaching adultwork prices you know its getting dear.

I think one of the turning points was when half a dozen of the top girls quit LSS overnight to join an online agency shortly after the sauna was extended - a sign of things to come. I remember the management were apoplectic and Lisa chuckled that the lasses weren't allowed to tell the punters where they'd all gone.

One down on Parkgrove terrace too that was made into flats by the owner. Downstairs his daughter ran it as a nursery for weans too.

Agree - Kelly was an absolute stunner who was equally good in the room. Once saw BeckyC at LSS and was recovering in the lounge when in walked Kelly from out the back wearing what appeared to be a black handkerchief. ;). I've known worse Saturday mornings.
