Sad to just hear on the news Robbie Coltrane has died, aged 72. Always liked him in Tutti Frutti, Cracker etc.

I keep meaning to re-watch Cracker. I remember it as being brilliant 25 years ago but wondered if it would stand the test if time. Think I'll make a determined effort to watch one now Robbie has pased. With him playing Hagrid in Harry Potter he'll be one of those rare actors known to teenagers and OAPs, genuinely cross-generational appeal.

Sad news indeed, remember him in Cracker and his appearance in an episode of Blackadder

Superb actor that could adapt to many roles, all of the perfectly! RIP  :hi:

Spent a couple of hours with him in back of the Pits at 24hr Le Mans in 2007 - A really nice fella who loved his cars. What you saw is what you got, straight talking, easy going and an all round nice bloke

Also worth checking out the Still Game episode where he played Davie the bus driver if you've  never seen it.

that was funny, a remakable man, i met him a few times in the late 70s,when he hung about bennets bar and the abbotsford, when he was unknown, but full of one liners, i assumed he was a glasgow hardman, as that was his persona then, was astonished to discover he had gone to glenalmond, as stephen fry said, robbie arrived at art school speaking like prince charles, but left speaking like jimmy boyle

I'm in USA at the moment and his death was on every news bulletin - but sadly only as "much loved Harry Potter actor"

Over here he never did anything else while we see it almost as a footnote to his varied career

brilliant! very underrated comedy

I remeber seeing him with Jools Holland and Paula Yates on the Bigg Market on a Friday Night back in the 80s. Surreal when you've had a few drinks

He was also The Spirit of Christmas in Blackadder's Christmas Carol.

He also did something where he planned robberies for criminals, The Fixer or something like that.
