Steamworks becomes a gay office car park holy shite, No.9 Sauna closed and becoming a homeless hostel and all the beginning of the end of an era so Ive been getting bit nostalgic for my 29 years worth of sauna bangs. Anyhoos for the nostalgic among my readers and PMers heres a list of places been banging in over the decades with score from 5 and also what I can remember if anything about visits and girls.

Ambassador: 0/5 Sprawling premises with huge potential, bad management, badly run, badly maintained, not clean even the drinking glasses are grimmy, very worst service ever encountered anywhere.
Verdict: Padlocked fire exits ffs! Dangerous as hell and full of drunkards, and some dubious girls out to fleece us punters.

Angels(CLOSED): 1/5 Straw hat premises and poorly managed but decent memorable Saturday morning sesh from wasted, drink and drugs to mine eye, but very attractive young 18 yo Scottish blonde student who still smelt of her clubbing the night before smoke, sweat and grime. Yon wastedness turned me on tho and made her very easy to persuade on anything and I pumped a few huge loads into her that morning for no extra cash fucking brilliant aye.

Verdict: Chanced in on a great experience but like my hole in one out in east lothian it wont happen again in 100 years.

Argyle Place(CLOSED?)/Comely Bank(CLOSED)/ Roseburn now Regency(CLOSED SOME DAYS OPEN SOME DAYS/NO STAFF?) Dundas Street(now): 1/5 Apart from Comely Bank (my first ever sauna visit around mid 1980s/1986 I think but its all hazy in the dim and drunken past and you could only get a hand-job in the sesh in them days) which closed down before raids even happened they exist for the moment at the say so of greater glesgae strathscotland polis. Beyond that nothing aye. May not even have WGs or even be open if you try to visit.
Verdict: TBH save yourself the wasted time a visit will drain from you and have a few pints down Port O Leith and perv on the wrinkled old barmaid at the bar. She used to be a bloke but is still better looking aye?

Blair Street Sauna: 4.5/5 (overall) 4/5 (current) Some looker WGs over the years if not as many outstanding stunners as LSS or as often but they have had a few. Decent, clean facilities failed by consistently poor staff management. They have had some excellent performers and lookers but many have moved on and the place always had an enormous turnover of staff. The hispanic owners always siding with us punters over the girl or blaming the girl when there were problems and complaints which is good until its a problem punter and nowt to do with lassie. Nae surprise like the WGs no going to hang about then and they just walk straight to a taxi and go to LSS. Like Newtown the owners here have left alot to be desired over the years though it seems to be more relaxed on last few visits and the new management seems to be improving things slowly but only TWT. The WGs are no sitting tense bolt upright in waiting area like the coiled springs on my suspension insisting on trying to start shite conversations when I just want to lean back on bench close my eyes and unwind before going down to cabin. Carols: 1/5 Long time ago went here nope no idea why either. Seemed to be run OK but was a tired, grimy looking place then and seems to have had WGs in high profile blackmail scandals with judges or bankers. Staff the larger older specimens in late 1990s/2000s and expect they will be same and fatter or Romanian jewelery sellers today. Nothing for me here then or now and inviting for the passer by it aint you expect to see a man in a rain coat leaving at any moment.

Verdict: Go if you must, someone has to.

London Street Sauna: 5/5 (overall) 3.5/5 (current) Has probably, like all the saunas now locked in a race to the bottom, had its day in the sun but those days were as good as anything you could get. Good management. First visit could have been 1994/95 maybe earlier not sure its to long ago and never did I see managers tearing strips off the girls in front of us punters and that made it such a comfortable place to visit. Youd happily wait in the lounge all day here until your choice was available or hang about till someone else tugged your dick aye. The list of stars who have graced this place is bigger than my knob AND bawbag aye an Im no kidding but sadly only 2 names are current:

Lisa: the busty scottish one not the later one who was Christina from BSS and about as passionate and interesting as a damp paper sack for seed spuds.

Kylie: a skinny petite 18 year old scottish blonde pole dancer. Would do anything you wanted and jumped at chance of some privateering in hotels with me and my mates. She loved feeling two dicks in her at same time, one in her ass and one in her pussy. She would go wild. Verdict: A pale shadow of its former self but in its hey day it was simply the best of the best and nowhere else was close. Us punters would queue to wait for a locker to wait for one of their girls to wait for a room then we'd come back up and do it all over again.

Penthouse (now Ambasador): 3/5 In its day it had some crackers but bad management and problem after problem with the powers that hold sway topping out with a big court case and prison sentences later reduced to fines and community service for management and owners brought it to an end. Speak to some of the older scottish girls in some of the other saunas now and they will give you the biz on this one. A few of them still working now worked there at the time. Newtown Carols and 168 Dundas got some.

Verdict: Just the one from the court.

Orchid House/Dundas St (14+ year ago): 3.5/5 Aye there was a time when this place had other management or ownership and it had a fair wee stream of staff and was a decent comfortable wee but cramped place to visit.Friday night was my Dundas and later Orchid House night. Had short spell when it had streams of young 18 year old russian and ex soviet states waifs and before the borders came down so fuck knows how they got them here but they were very willing to satisfy even if not a word of English could pass their lips. Anyhoo better that way cos I can just get on with it. Banged a good few of yon russians that way happy days........ figure there must be a few big strapin rusty haired laddies about 14/15 years old hoofing about Russia now. They got very hot young scottish girls for a while too 1998 to 2001 but names all forgotten gone except India who was mixed race Scottish/Indian girl from further north somewhere, young, very attractive and willing to do anything and everything bareback and for no extra charge.

Verdict: Worth a visit now only if you have a time machine.

Newtown: Scrapes a 2.5/5. A hit or miss establishment for long time now and TBTH more misses than anything these days but you might strike gold if you chance in and a good new one has started but not worth taking the chance IMHO for me anyhoos. Better in the 1990s when they had some quality scottish pussy aye? Some of the older locals lassies there now worked there when they were 18, 19, 20 years old and are now pushing 40. Dont do fat burds and dont do hooker pensioners aye? No interested in their Romanian shite no matter what made up land they tell me they are fae on the phone even if they are 19 or 20 and dont rate their crop of younger Scottish either some got serious issues like Sophie. Last decent seshers up at Newtown were Scottish aye no surprise there aye and they were Jamie and Brooke about 5 or 6 year ago. Both were filthy as fuck in cabin and both barebackers. Brooke was even anal BBer and was it tight. Nothing since to write back home to ma mother about and no expecting anything so my sessions here have tailed off alot and only occasional recent trawls here but theres nothing thats no shite or mentally shakey aye. To many unknowns to waste my gate money chancing it rather put half a tank of fuel in the motor.

Management here irritates me recently and other punters I talk to. Door staff and neurotic managers listening in the corridors and sneaking about outside the cabins. Why? Wtf? Is this the new Lothian Road with dodgy spying? You hear feet sneaking along and everyone stops talking in waiting room bracing themselves for who is going to get the tongue lashing this time for no talking but we were doin just fine till you pissed everybody off by standing just out of sight listening to our conversations and why you listening ffs? Like I tell them at BSS I'll talk if/when I want or I'll walk taking my gate money. If you go here try to make sure its yon ex-WG Bobby (accent on phone) at door she knows better what shes doing and Ive no found her standing near the door of the cabin when I come out but maybe shes just better at spying or maybe somebody elses a peepin tom.

Verdict: Too many misses to be a hit. Management here starting to deteriorate on recent visits.

Scruples(CLOSED): TBTH impossible to rate IMHO. A half converted house on Annandale Street with some dark curtains pulled across windows. The only sauna I have never stepped inside. Was there even a sauna? It looked like much trouble waiting to start. Neon lights spelling out Scruples on the front window. Scruples? Fuck me really aye?

Verdict: I didnt go in then and you cant now its somebodys front room.

Fingertips:(long gone but empty building and some signage still there close to the Fountain Park): 0/5 but 5/5 for sheer entertainment. Memorable for yon one legged 50 year old lesbian that owned it in legend though on my one visit I never had the pleasure of seeing anything one legged or even part female from memory. In memory there were two huge fleshy runts of flesh no memory of whether one or two legged with rolls of more flesh and some kind of stringy see through dress that made you see more rolls of flesh coloured rolls of flesh. As you readers and my PMers know I dont do fat burds so like the Edinburgh Evening News reporters before me I made my excuses and left, no chucks aye?.

Verdict: Make your excuses and leave aye, everybody else has including the owners.

Fingerprints:(gone for many years but was nearly directly opposite Torphican Street Police Station): 1/5. If Police Scotland deny they knew anything about saunas remind them of this place. Its door ways one for in and one for out were even covered by the West End Polis Stations CCTV camera. This was one of the last places I had my first visit inside long after it had been established and it closed a few years later. Decorated like a poormans italian chapel in some of the rooms with fake ornate figures and crap shite like that aye. One experience there with filthy talking girl called Paris totally ok and totally forgettable.

Verdict: Gone and forgotten by everybody.

Executive: 1/5 Bad, Really bad in every possible way. They try to make the choice for you when you go in. Even if there is a few WGs sitting behind reception on the sofas the receptionist will say one name is available. GTF! I will chose or I will chose to walk asshole money grabbing fucker face suckers. This is so all WGs work so the owners get the shift fee from each of the girls. Poor standards, poor service, dirty, the WGs and receptionist swigging from vodka and whiskey bottles and they assume that us punters are idiots and WGs try to wangle more money for basic extras that are standard at several other establishments. Four or five visits spread over 15 or 20 odd years and all exactly same experience. In those years I have never seen another punter and never has there been a girl unavailable because she was busy. I only imagine then that nobody really goes there.

Verdict: Like a long brown shite on the street its best avoided.

Merchant Street Sauna, later No9: now closed, soon shelter for homeless or holidaymakers depending on which paper you wipe your arse with or eat your chips out or both. Visited when first opened as Merchant Street Sauna. Great lounge facilities but dark fuckin hell it was dark can still remmeber peering to find a seat, no working sauna, poor quality of staff, disintereted reception staff which meant no many punters.

Visited again as No9 before it closed and shrunk in size and reopened as well No9 aye? clever idea aye? Was told one WG available who was young and did anal. Others were busy. Took an hour. WG appeared, skinny and good looking and led me down to room and ran the jacuzzi bath and said back in 5 mins. 20 minutes later I got out of jacuzzi got dressed, went to reception to ask what had happened? It wasnt that they had one girl available that did anal really it was they had only yon girl available full stop and she was doing two 1 hour clients at same time my being one of them. Told the woman I wanted gate money back and wouldnt be back. Got my money and left forever like everyone else.

Verdict: Let the homeless make better use of it.

Club 7 Leisure: Could have transformed the industry but didnt. The very best facilities, premises, WGs and style. Problems for owners led to it closing about 12 months later and the licence being withdrawn. Owners of building were unhappy at use it was being put to, local residents in Edinburgh's genteel New Town were furious when the management strung up a huge fluorescent banner across the front of building advertising their services. Many regular punters were put off when wealthy groups from London and further afield booked it out with all the staff. You would climb the steps up to the main door on York Place or you could use the rear exit door too came out on a lane near where they were building Harv Niks and the new bus station at time and note on door would say Sorry The Premises are Booked Out Entirely Today/This Week. That sure put me off trying again when I read sign for third consecutive time. Issues where they were trading without the necessary licence and paperwork and according to mate the council thought the granting of the original licence was a mistake given the location and size of site and the fact that the owners and managers seemed intent on an in your face style of existence rather than the more usual Edinburgh nothing here Claude approach.

Scorpio: a known haven for all sorts that I had the misfortune to visit for first time in about 11 years recently to check out Brianne whos getting bigger in the middle no fat mind but looked bigger in middle but was a true looker years ago and a well known barebacker that I enjoyed many times over the years. Run by two brothers or pair of arses or both depending on your POV. I have some very fond memories of the New Blythswood Sauna in York Street Glasgow. Those were the days!  I am sure that the owner was convicted of running it as a brothel a few years back.

The NB was excellent, and yes the lady running did get convicted.

The whole situation with the NB at the end was very strange as it appeared that the council renewed the license for the sauna shortly after the conviction, and only a short time before it was shut down for good. By that point most of the other saunas in Glasgow had gone and the writing was on the wall for those that remained.

Strathclyde Police and that probably-corrupt little twat who used to be the head of the council, Stephen Purcell, have a lot to answer for in that respect.

I used to travel up from Newcastle to London Street every 3
/4 weeks back then and couldnt agree more with Jerrys sentiments.Kerry will never be bettered IMHO.although Becky ran her close during her brief but memorable stay in 2005.
I can remember turning up one Saturday in 2002 and the girls were Kerry,Lisa,Carrie,Melanie,Shari,Jennifer,Rachel & Kate.Makes you want to weep.Happy days indeed!!

Enjoyed the review, my memories only go back about 8 years, though ive punted a few that you have mentioned. Paula is actually getting bigger, which doesn't bother me, Heidi seemed pretty poor last time I went with her, Marie in ls actually offers a pretty limited service in my experience, and her arse is definitely bigger than it was, if Brookes ever reappears, I will give her a visit, she didn't have the sauna look, more the filthy librarian type.

Paula at BSS was the first ever sauna WG I met just over 7 years ago. I was nervous and went floppy when the condom went on, so she carried on with OWO and CIM.  A fond memory!  Sadly she hasn't aged well.  As much as I like Heidi, she can be too passive and a bit mechanical (though probably still way above average for a sauna girl and she's still got the looks).

Na, shes no aged well. Asides from the extra weight shes startin to look haggard and a helluva lot older than she is. Tragic aye?

Aye she married Ricky and retired from the biz then they moved back to Australia. She was manager Justin's sister. Fairly common for the owners/bosses to marry their top girls.
