Never saw her in anything else apart from the Star Trek series and films but she broke down a lot of barriers. Also helped with a lot of recruiting for Nasa to get women and those from an ethnic background into science and the NASA programme.
Star Trek was way ahead of it's time in terms of diversity and showing various ethnic backgrounds in a positive light and positions of power / authority.
No doubt one of the usual suspects will be along to tell us what Woke bullshit it all was

As for NASA well they had quite a chequered history, I remember watching a documentary about the space race and there was a black astronaut who was due to go into space (can't recall if he was actually supposed to walk on the moon or not) but with it all being based in the Southern states pressure was brought to bare and he got dropped for another white guy who wasn't as good but kept the rednecks happy
