no details of names or addresses so quite possibly an ongoing operation - could be worth avoiding Sheffield EE girls for a while

Interesting that the women found appear to have been in their forties - proves that not all trafficking victims are young

Seven arrested as police in Sheffield uncover gang trafficking women into country to work as prostitutes
Seven arrests have been made by South Yorkshire Police in a huge operation looking at modern day slavery, human trafficking and drugs.

Detectives involved in the operation believe women have been trafficked into the country for prostitution.

Two men and three women were arrested yesterday on suspicion of offences concerning modern slavery and human trafficking, and two other men on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intention to supply.

Eight warrants were executed across Sheffield as part of the South Yorkshire Police-led investigation.

Two warrants were also executed in Derby and Liverpool, again led by South Yorkshire Police officers and in conjunction with the respective forces.

Two North Yorkshire properties in Scarborough and York were also visited by North Yorkshire Police.

A man, aged 42, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering as part of the operation.

He, as well as a 66-year-old man and three women, aged 43, 47 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of modern slavery - namely the human trafficking of females for the purposes of sexual exploitation and controlling prostitution.

Two other men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs suspected to be Class A and Class B with intention to supply.

All of those arrested were from Sheffield, except for the 43-year-old woman, who is from Derby.

Detective Inspector James Smith said: “During yesterday’s policing activity, a total of three women between the ages of 39 and 48 have been identified as being potential victims of modern slavery. They have been supported by police and offered the support of specialist partners and charities here in South Yorkshire.

"We suspect that a number of women identified during our investigation were brought in to the country for the sole purpose of exploitation, and it's now our absolute priority to ensure they are removed from harm, safeguarded, and receive the specialist long-term support they need."

The operation centred around the suspected exploitation of women for a sexual purpose.

That's extremely unlikely
They'll be on VS

Quick update from the front line as I am in Sheff this weekend for a family do.

Having had far too much to drink last night, I went out earlier to clear my head, and happened to walk past the alleyway where "Summer Relax" is based.

I saw a couple of Chinese ladies outside the shop looking rather upset so I asked them what's up (for you sceptical Southerners, this is actually quite normal behaviour in the North - "mind your own business" is almost a foreign expression up here :) ).

They said the police had been in and had now sealed the shop and taken the keys away with them, so the ladies couldn't work today and didn't know when they'd get back in.  They were mightily pissed off :)

My guess is that detectives will be seizing all devices, booking info and CCTV.  They could potentially use this info to collar a client or two...

Anyhow, the authorities are clearly putting some effort in on this investigation, so if in South Yorkshire, celibacy is probably the best policy :)

Can't see anything referring to EE specifically in the reports linked, and as I say above, Chinese are also in focus for the police enquiries.

Best to keep your "powder" dry for the time being...

The OP makes reference to EE girls and to avoid them for the time being. I was just stating I avoid them all the time for this very reason.

Yeah, fair enough, not sure why the OP said EE girls though as I didn't see any reference to the ethnicity of the safeguarded women in the news reports he linked to (may have missed it though - I am partially blind nowadays (not a joke, sadly !).

No, nothing about EE in the report, that was  just my speculation based on what I'd heard elsewhere - but thinking about it, given the womens ages then maybe Asians are more likely

Adding to what fisherofsouls said above about Summer Relaxing Massage, I tried to contact Spring Relaxing Massage in Upperthorpe yesterday, and whereas I've always found comms with them to be crap, at least they do usually respond, but not this time.  Anyway, I detoured past the place today and noticed that the roller shutters are down, which is never usually the case midday on a Saturday.

I wonder if the other place in the same group, in Gleadless, is also out of commission?  If so it seems they've been well and truly done over.

Scutty, it might be worth posting this in the EM section given the Derby connection.

Did wonder why there hadn't been an ad on Vivastreet for Woodseats this week.

Not sure if its a coincidence but these 2 places are closed, one said family illness and the other just closed for time being. Both places have mature Asian ladies working at them.

The availability heuristic strikes again !  Out of the blue I had to spend a couple of days in Sheffield again this week (work this time) so I took the opportunity to walk past Summer Relax again...  Spoke to a Chinese lady hanging out washing on a clothes horse in the alley outside the shop (so Hong Kong ) and she confirmed they are back open and working nornally.
