Agree. Shark is amazing

But I think dyson is better on hard floors. Shark is best on carpet

If she sucked like a Shark, we might be in trouble!

Dyson's strategy is now to load up the price so that when a machine breaks they just send out a replacement still making a profit (similar to Vax’s business model). They have been steadily designing them for years to try and make them difficult to repair mainly due to the amount of non genuine Dyson repairs. Shark are also a crock of crap flimsy and poorly designed, if anything goes wrong out of guarantee you are fucked. Very few spares available for example a motor costs £90.
Best buys for upright a Sebo X-series and Pull along a Henry. Both commercial grade pro vaccys.

The latest Dyson, that measures particles, why?  Crock of shit  :D

Add Miele cat and dog to the good ones.

The amount of people that buy into the marketing for these things amazes me, for the sake of plugging something in when you need it.

The amount of the things I have seen in waste transfer stations over the years told me all I needed to know  :D.

21 years of cleaning the house and many cars the Miele is still going strong.

But weren't they always top dollar anyway  :unknown:
The theory is that you are paying for the cutting edge technology / design and certainly when they were 1st out the superior cleaning ability, I do however know people who thought they were rubbish

Increasing the price simply puts me off buying a product, I mean how much better is a vacuum cleaner that's 3 times the price, probably not 3 times better  :unknown:

Won't ever buy a Dyson product anyway for reasons I can't go into

At the risk of turning this thread into a sketch from a Carry On movie...........

Suction isn't everything.

I tried a friend's Dyson some years ago. They had carpetted floors. Trying to move that thing over the carpet felt like I had done a 60 minute workout in the gym.

Anybody ever remember the Kirby hoover? The salesmen used to come round to your house with the heavy sales schtick.

All joking aside I can think back 40 years and remember my gran either using one of those or a traditional dustpan and brush, she swore blind that it worked better than the vacuum cleaner she had.

She also had an electric oven that only ever got used 2 or possibly 3 times as she preferred her old Rayburn as it "Cooks a roast better"
I also recall that Rayburn and if you didn't turn the food round regularly then it was charcoal on one side and not cooked properly on the other
The other thing about the Rayburn is that it was going 24/7/365 pumping out heat, great mid winter but almost killed us during that summer of 76

We're still in the Dyson camp. Must say their aftersales has been exemplary and they've sent me free parts even for a vacuum out of warranty.

We are predominantly hard floor with usual array of rugs and soft furnishings.

Whilst on the subject of domestic cleaning....

I would highly recommend this Spot Cleaner thing. Very effective. I suppose it's a small carpet cleaner that's the right size if you just have a rug or two and a three piece suite. No point having a massive Vax thing if you don't have much carpet.

Miele are the best.  If I’m not mistaken they sell cordless vacs now.  I wouldn’t go near a Dyson ever again.   They make you feel like £400 is a bargain for a vacuum.

I had a corded Miele that must have lasted for about 15 years when I was a kid.  Will try them again when my current one packs in.

Dyson are good value second hand, try Facebook Market place. I picked a decent one up for £30 a month or two ago. Works great, the seller had just bought a new one (Dyson again) so was selling the 4or 5 year old one :hi:

Is that because they can’t afford a Dyson or Shark and certainly not a Miele 😀

No it’s because Dyson and Shark fall apart when used professionally. Beware the Dog & Cat Miele as the carbon filter blocks up and burns out the motor. The Kirby series had a 600w motor which illustrates its design efficiency rather than motor size that counts. The more filters the more suction required   :D.

Good point.

The Henry is supposed to be practically indestructible.

I heard someone once call it the AK47 of the hoover world!

Henrys are made by Numatic and they primarily produce industrial use equipment, designed for a more arduous life than those made for domestic use.

I wouldn't buy a Dyson after what Mr Dyson did to his workforce recently, but that's getting close to politics, so I'll leave that parked! I currently have a Vax which does a good job on my dog's fur deposits (better than the Dyson) and their Customer Service is excellent my (now ex) wife had cleaners, and they managed to pull the wire out of the thing twice - each time Vax just sent a whole new Hoover as it was still in warranty! I also have a little AEG hand held job, which is good so long as you hold it at the right angle to the surface - typical German precision! We have a Henry at work for the cars, and that's good providing you remember to empty it - unfortunately, most of my colleagues believe in the Hoover emptying fairy, so it rarely gets done!
Most electrical goods it's definitely a case of getting what you pay for, but cheap and you might get a year or two out of it, expensive, such as Miele, you'll get at least 10 years.

I feel the same about Dyson, I remember Dyson telling people. " British invention with jobs for British people ". I do actually have one but will never buy one again.

I've owned two cheap Vax one was a little bubble vax that was actually ok, left it at my old place when I moved, another was an upright more expensive one, absolute dogshit - returned it after a few weeks after it kept turning on and off. Dyson Animal - also dogshit , I dropped it broke the plastic on the front.

All Numatic stuff is bombproof. Miele (in top price bracket), Mercedes and Nilfisk is great.
