Just curious to know what brands people buy clothing from?

I generally stick to Uniqlo, Reiss (for upscale stuff) and CT shirts for shirts. I am wanting to expand buy wardrobe and also the brands of cloths that i generally purchase from.

Primark and quality seconds.  my size 7 feet fit them size 13 shoes perfectly

uniglo, next, Zara and gap when they were on high street.

bought a few polo shirts from lands end.  their quality is pretty good with excellent service.  any issues  they will swap no quibble

Nothing else. I only stick to these three that I mentioned.

TM Lewin for shirts. On the price vs quality index, they come out about right. Not the dearest, not the cheapest, but they last longer than nearly all cheaper brands. Good cut, good enough fabric.

Asda jeans. Don't laugh. Get the slimmer fit and you can't tell the difference between them and the 200 quid trendy variety.

Shoes. Hard to get good shoes these days, unless you want cheapo trainers. You have to spend north of 100 quid to get something that'll last and still look good a year later.

Zara when on sale,  Uniqlo depending on price as their quality can vary depending on the item.  I like COS (upper market H&M brand) and their shops have some decent sales.  Zalando/zalando lounge have some decent online stuff on special.  Mango have good quality but it is pricey.  Muji have some good quality cotton shirts for day to day wear.

For the up market stuff I usually stick to Reiss or if able to afford then Massimo Dutti.   There is a site called Chicmi which have higher market branded stuff end of season sales mostly in London.  I have had mixed luck there.  I have never been to Bicester Village but a colleague told me he has stuff from 5 years ago that still looks brand new.

I recently bought a pair of Italian Geox trainers (made in Serbia  :D)  at the airport. I won’t lie, they are uncomfortable shoes and I would hesitate to go back there again.  I would donate them to a homeless person if they didn’t cost so much.

It's still open. I buy from them and have parcels forwarded from Germany.

Anyway I buy from Mango, C&A, Gap, Esprit, Hilfiger, and for basic t-shirt M&S. I have tried Tyrwhitt for trousers and shirts but I never like their stuff. Back when I was doing office work I tried Roderick Charles for trousers but couldn't recommend them.

I have found those villages never to be a good deal, you have to go like in January or after the new season comes in.. sometimes they are as expensive as high street..

Jeans from Levi's. Over £100 a pair now. It's always worth waiting for their online promotions, I ordered a pair of 512s for half price this weekend. Casual clothes from Superdry or Fat Face. Formal wear, pants & socks M&S.

Right now I'm wearing:

Under Armour boxers
Sports direct socks
Regatta zip off trousers
Easy polo shirt
Regatta walking shoes ,(like a trainer but more durable and waterproof,).

M & S suits or formal  wear for me.

I'd agree about Asda jeans  great fit, durable and sensible prices, although I do have 3 pairs of wranglers and 1 Levi's.

I buy anything from anywhere if I simply like it.
Bought some casuals from H&M recently and they are better quality than the designer gear I bought from Selfridges.

I have some polo type shirts I bought in Patong over twently years ago....still. Nobody believes me when I tell them this shirt cost me 50P.  :D
Best made to measure suit I ever had done was from a little shop in Bangkok and the girl who did was Indian.
Mind you the dodgy Rolex stopped working as soon as I landed at Heathrow  :D

For high street stores. I quite liked Debenhams to be honest and most of the recent stuff I have bought is from Elys in Wimbledon.

socks M&S.

M and S socks have gone downhill over the years. M and S doesn't seem to know what it's for, any more.

A pack of five or seven pairs for a tenner or 12 quid are not going to be any good.

Anyone who shop online for clothes.  I guess you don't like the high street and shopping centres? Me, myself I like those places as you can try before you buy without having the hassle of sending it back by post if it doesn't fit me.

Also, I am supporting more jobs.

I never purchased anything online unless I really have to

I used to feel that way but you have more choice buying online and it's often cheaper. As I am a size medium I have never had to return anything up till now . My city centre has very little in the way of decent clothes shops especially mens clothes . I tend to be a jeans, sweatshirt and casual polo and t shirt wearer anyway. Nothing too flash or expensive.

I think this very much depends on our age.

I don't particularly fancy Next, River Island or H & M. Even M & S is very hit and miss and I normally walk out when I see a grandad looking at the same trousers as me!

If you want something a bit different then you need to go online.

Footwear wise, mainly Timberland, but trainers are addidas or New Balance.
Jeans, wrangler, diesel or levi's.
Usually wear chinos for work, again Timberland, or sainsbury's own make, which are are good for fit me.
I've had some good purchases off ebay once you know your sizes.
Winter wise I have a couple of barbour wax jackets. I can't imagine those ever wearing out, possibly my best ever clothing purchases. I rewax them annually :hi:

I'd never pay more than £50 for a pair of jeans or trainers, your just paying for the brand name  :unknown: there is a clothes store recently opened in my City centre selling a denim jacket for £300+  :scare: it looks no better than a Levis jacket I own which cost me £35. Clarks, Regatta/Craghoppers (same brand), vintage early 00s designer for t-shirts Moschino, Fake London etc, YMC. Used to wears Cons, but not anymore.

M&S pure wool jumpers are ok if on sale and Farah is good for basics (no big logos, ok quality and not overpriced). Fred Perry for polos. Any made in USA or Japan jeans.

If you're flush best socks I've got are Panthrella.

Don't really wear much designer stuff even compared to a few years back. I rarely wear prints, logos and don't do wacky colours or sports wear unless doing exercises.

I have to disagree. Some of the Hugo Boss and even Hilfiger denim seems to be finer material than the cheaper denims. It might not last as long but looks and feels like a different quality. That was the case with Hugo Boss a few years back anyway.

I think the material is better than the cheap stuff but it is in between. If you get fine cotton, which is soft and more breathable then it probably won't last as long despite the luxury feel.

Made up pretend brands from TK Maxx. Exotic names like Massimo Cartini, Luigi Del Mignon, Ramsdale & Son etc etc.

Normally that sort of blatant nonsense irritates me but the fact it's cheap and I know they have 100s of silly in-house brands/labels trying to give a veneer of proper tailoring or Milanese style to their clobber makes me chuckle.

Offline royal_male

TK Maxx is high hit and miss territory. It is usually stuff that doesnt sell on high streets followed by discounters, there is a reason why its there at TK Maxx.

 I seen an article a few years back that said even some of the brand names make cheaper ranges to sell at TK Maxx, meaning you can't really tell if anything is actually reduced.

I can't think of a worse waste of time than that shop.

Then it works for you. Apparently it is labels like Ralph Lauren that allow other companies to make clothing with their brand name which ends up in TK Maxx.

I'm happy for you but wouldn't waste any more time there. I tried amazing Polo shirts on in the Gant store some years back on Regent Street. I guarantee you if I go to TK Maxx tomorrow they will have nothing under a Gant brand of similar quality. In fact the only decent find I ever had there was a Hilfiger peacoat - for £100. Not an exceptional price in any case. I spent a lot of time in those shops and found it to be a bad use of time.
