Has anyone ever taken 2 little blue pills together to see if it has a longer effect?

Offline Gordon Bennett

You need to talk about dosage in milligrammes, not pills.

They come in 25mg, 50mg and 100mg tablets.

My understanding is that you should take the minimum amount necessary to get you hard. Taking more than that does not give you any added benefit.

So, if 50mg works for you, taking more (ie another 50mg pill) will not make you harder, bigger or last longer. However, I presume that any unwanted side effects or negative effects will be amplified so it's not a good idea really.

Offline Thephoenix

The only time I've taken two 50mg tabs is when I've run out of 100 mg which had been prescribed by a doctor.
 2 x 50 mg tabs have the same effect as 1 x 100mg.
It doesn't matter what strength Viagra you take, the effects won't last longer.
If you were wanting to last longer, you should consider trying Tadalafil which effects will typically last for 36 hours or more.

Cheers gents. Makes perfect sense

Taking more Sildenafil than it takes to get you hard will do nothing for the erection, but will make all the side effects worse.
Tadalafil instead does not give the instant boner, but gives you an easy 'lazy lob on' that can last a day or two and be summoned to a more natural erection, and without the side effects.
NEVER MIX THE TWO TYPES.

Doubling the correct dosage of a medication whose side effects include blindness and death strikes me as a cunning plan

I shan't be popping two pills at a time. Thanks for the Intel though chaps

Further to the above posts, I gather Tadalafil is a 'blacklisted' drug. I couldn't discover why....cost? Effectiveness? Side effects? Anyone got any experience or further knowledge please.

Offline psb

Tadalafil is not blacklisted. I asked my GP for it and got a repeat prescription.

Thanks for the info AF.

PSB, interesting, at my surgery, it definitely came up blacklisted - I saw it on the screen. She tried to get round it, but could not. So plainly the old postcode lottery is in operation.

According to The NHS website, Tadalafil is only available on an NHS prescription for ED if you have a specific condition such as multiple sclerosis or a spinal cord injury, otherwise the doctor can provide a private prescription which would require full payment of the medicine.
That's a new one on me.

I don't have those conditions and get free tadalafil on request

Offline Fwp

Me neither, so as I say something of a lottery, or I guess it might be a new ruling, not applied retrospectively. It also makes it sound like a cost issue to me.

Thanks again for all the input

16 or 17 years or so ago, in the early days of my punting 'career', I was having erectile difficulties and the lass I saw most often - the celebrated Lisa from the execrable Arabesque on Rochdale Rd. in Bury - suggested she could get me some Kamagra. But I said I wanted my GP to check out my heart before trying them.

And was I glad?! I cracked on to my GP that I'd got a new gf - didn't tell her that the 'gf' charged by the hour! - and that because of erectile difficulties, the gf had suggested buying some Kamagra, so would the GP mind checking my heart for me, please?

She did; and gave me two bits of good news: my heart was okay; and because I'd been born with Spina bifida, I qualified for 4 Viagra a month on the NHS. Which has saved me a fortune over the years! My GP's Scottish; and sounds a bit like Maggie Smith in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie." - ironically one of the Sunday afternoon staples on TV in those days! - when she advised me, "Ye'll still have to go through foreplay, mind!" :D

Anyway; fast forward maybe 10 years to the relevance to Phoenix's link above. The Viagra was proving less reliable so I went to see if one of the GPs could suggest something different. Our Health Centre gives placements to trainee GPs and it was one of these who worked through the Formulary and found Tadalafil for me!  ;)  :D

I haven't punted for about 6-9 months now due to old age and increasing infirmity; and recently stopped ticking the Tadalafil box on my Renewal prescription form. I still have enough tabs left which are inside their Best by date so, if the sap starts rising in the next 18 months, and I feel like doing an AW search again, I know I'll have a tablet to see me through! :)

Hope it's not too personal a question HA, but haven't you tried taking one occasionally and watching an old 'Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' film?

Also, if you've got a manageress in your new retirement apartment like me, it might be worth asking if she provides any 'personal services' included in your service charge.

......Oooh Matron!

These are the regulations with regard to prescribing Tadalafil on an NHS prescription.

The same regulation use to apply to Sildenafil but was removed circa 2014 although it only applies to generic versions and if a patient wants branded Viagra the same above criteria still apply. Although strangely a pharmacist may choose to supply Viagra when dispensing a prescription for generic sildenafil.

If none of those apply your GP may issue you a private prescription (but should not charge you for issuing it) and the pharmacist can dispense (cost variable)

This applies everywhere and is not a 'post code lottery'. If as some appear to be saying, their GP has issued an NHS prescription for Tadalafil then there is something amiss on the part of the GP.

The only other criteria is if the ED is causing severe distress but then it has to be prescribed initially via a Consultant.

A lot depends on when the NHS website was last updated, as it looks like it maybe out of date. I consulted my Dr earlier this month as the generic Sildenafil was having no effect. He therefore prescribed me Tadalafil, no questions asked, 10mg tablets, Last issued: 09 Jun 2022, Quantity: 8 tablet.

I don't have the conditions listed above but I do have myocardial infarction, cholecystectomy, Hiatus Hernia & other minor problems including damaged nerves & torn muscles of the lower back.

As some of you will know before someone kicks of about my lack of reports, Due to this I rarely now punt in the UK but reserve it now for when I go on my annual 3 - 4 month winter sabbatical.

I'm finding that sildenafil is having less effect. Is it worth taking a punt (sorry) on tadalafil. Presumably it works for you?
