So what's your favourite, I'm more old school myself.

Bakewell Tart
Black Forest Gateaux
Sticky Toffee Pudding

Yup, they all sound salacious bit are equally tasty.

Maybe not a cake, but love a proper buttered fruit scone
I.e.......SKON!!!
Not some posh poncey scown.

Big, scrispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside, still slightly warm so the butter melts, with a fresh crumbly texture.
No sissy jam and cream!....just best butter.

I don’t eat cake can I have a sausage roll? I would rather eat savoury than sweet.

Offline Aldebaran

I like a nice roll with a little honey.

Lemon drizzle cake
Carrot cake.

Think lemon drizzle is underestimated... But a proper curdy one with a cracking surface is one of my favourites.

My natural instinct is to say they are cakes but if they aren't cakes then what classification are they  :unknown:

Fucking hell Phoenix you'll have all the Devon and Cornwall boys suddenly dropping the feud whether it's jam or cream 1st and joining together against you to argue they are cakes  :scare:

Anyway I do like a carrot cake and a Danish pastry plus Tiffin is excellent  :drinks:

My natural instinct is to say they are cakes but if they aren't cakes then what classification are they  :unknown:

I remember watching an episode of QI where this was raised.  There was some court case with McVitie’s to determine the tax bracket of Jaffa Cakes (I kid you not) as cakes and biscuits essentially have the same ingredients but are taxed differently, a cake being deemed as a staple food item thus exempt from VAT whilst a biscuit is a luxury item so VAT is payable.  The government argued as Jaffa cakes were usually stocked with other biscuit that it’s a biscuit.

If my memory is right then the ‘experts’ conclusion, after baking a giant Jaffa cake (still not kidding) was that if the product goes hard when it goes stale then it’s a cake and if it goes soft then it’s a biscuit.  A Jaffa cake apparently goes hard so it’s a cake!

Fun fact, the chocolate side of a Jaffa cake is apparently the bottom side  :D

An ideal gift for anyone that you dont like. I ate a couple of bits then left the rest out for the birds. They didnt want it. A crow backed of after one bite. It might roll out to make a good floor covering though.

Dont risk it, or feed it to ducks, as they might sink and drown. :)
