Depp Vs Heard

Tried avoiding this but found myself being sucked into it the other day, it's honestly better than most crap on TV. Elon Musk and James Franco are meant to be testifying soon.

Heard definitely isn't right in the head. I mean to poop in your fellas bed is foul, not to mention all of the other violent crap she's done to him. A true sociopath.

I do think he's just as much to blame as she is. I remember watching an interview with Johnny Depp sometime ago. He looked totally stoned out of his head on drugs  I think both of them are a sandwich short of a picnic

Depp had better lawyers or more precisely Heard's made a huge error in allowing her to  suggest Depp was a serial abuser including an accusation  that he pushed former girlfriend Kate Moss down a flight of stairs. They saved her till last to refute that allegation - leaving the jury to remember Heard as a liar

The BBC did an article suggesting reasons why Depp effectively lost a similar case in the UK (where the Sun were defendants, having published an article recounting Heards story).

It suggested that one big factor was that UK case was before a judge who was probably less impressed with the the approach taken by Depp’s lawyers than the jury in the US trial that were probably less familiar with “lawyer tricks”.

But like you on the couple of times I wasted 10 minutes of looking at US trial, my gut reaction was that Heards lawyers were total crap. Would be pretty sure Sun employed much better ones.

I read that Beeb article. Although it suggested our clever judge wasn't taken in by Depp's slick legal representation I felt it was more a case of yet another fusty out of touch judge making a random arbitrary decision.

Basically the verdict of "12 good men and true" is perfectly valid (except on those occasions they get it wrong though apparently).

I must admit thought did occur (based on summing up) that UK  casewas one of those times where the judge got the hots for a good looking woman, and made an iffy decision.

(Like the Jeffrey Archer libel case of long ago, where judge made a completely bizarre decision, basically because he became besotted with Archer’s wife.)

The difference in the verdicts is more likely explained by the difference between UK and US libel laws.
