Fancied and impromptu meet the other week, and messaged this girl via AW. She promptly replied giving me her number so I contacted her on WhatsApp. Arranged a meet and then she asked for a £20 deposit. Despite some alarm bells ringing, horn got the better of me and so I paid it via bank transfer. Once I'd messaged her saying I'd sent the deposit coms went dead. Here endeth the lesson.

Have you reported the matter to AW, your bank and the police?

Whynot ask your bank for a charge back as the deposit was for a service not delivered?    (You could say cleaning)

The OP said he paid by bank transfer, not by card, that's what I was meaning. And you usually have to say if the payment is to a personal or business account (with my bank anyway) - assuming it was a personal account, would the bank accept it was a legitimate payment for a business service that should be refunded?

It was £20. Put it down to experience and move on with your life. (and it was a bank transfer. The bank will want some details before they take any action (if they do) to try to recover the money - just not worth the hassle and time involved )

I was going to stay in Weymouth a couple of weeks ago for work and I had her on the list, so lucky that got cancelled!

I wouldn't have paid a deposit anyway.
