Its actually a smart business move that businesses sometimes use for free advertisement & if it works well in the area they will deploy the same tactic on other products but will do it very rarely to sell a certian product.It'll make yoi feel smug & think they are smart and actually buy the product to then take it to the counter & say can i buy each bottle separately. You will then discuss this with other people or maybe i dont know write it in a discussion forum lol & next time they are near the shop they will go in and do the same thing you did & might evan buy other products. So yeah basically free advertisement for them

£13 in one Tesco locally, £12 with clubcard discount.
£13 in a second Tesco around 5 miles away, £10 with clubcard discount.
I bought 3 crates because I thought it was a mistake. I wouldn’t usually buy that much beer.
