Hi lads

How important is parking in picking a prossie? Would the lack of parking put you off? For me is a nightmare driving into city centre for punting...... It's already an expensive hobby, but it pisses me off having to waste more time looking for a parking spot and overpaying for it

Parking very important
If I’m seeing someone new I generally check Google earth and parkopedia

Very important, so much so that if they won't give me an idea of where they're located I won't book as I need to know if parking is an issue.

As you say I don't need a £60 parking fine on top of whatever I'm paying the WG...

Agree with above posts. Parking a nightmare in many places .Would not venture into Manchester nowadays, just to much hassle with parking and bus and tram restrictions.

I always research first. Last punt I read nearby Asda ,so free and safe enough.

Surprised the Lidl in Preston does not charge for prossie parking ...Would make a fortune.

Yeah close easy parking is a must have- especially if it's raining.
That's why I prefer hotel meets with onsite parking -  plus rooms and beds are usually better than some incall gaffs

I think that parking, is just part of the "overheads" of punting.

Fuel, travel time etc. I just leave loads of time.

If I'm too early, go for a tea, coffee or Coca Cola.

Obviously free parking is the best  :)

Parking is one of my annoyances. I turned up once for a punt a few mins early. I'd been given the postcode last minute, whilst en route, only to find that on arrival the nearest parking was about a 15 minute walk from her door. It also took me 15 mins to drive there due to traffic.

I try to punt without a car these days, it's far less hassle.

This

It's partly why I prefer parlour punts as I know where the place is in advance and once you've been a few times you can work out where it's best to park

Seems a lot of car parks around City centres need parking apps !!...no go area for me !

Same, I usually check on Google maps their incall location and see if there’s parking nearby otherwise I don’t bother.

This.

For example, in the Northern Quarter, you can park free after 8pm and there are some streets on the Ring Rd where you can park free after 12:30 noon on a Saturday and all day Sunday.

Handy for Piccadilly and Cosmo.

Liverpool city centre is a sod for parking what with all the roadworks and formerly accessible streets becoming pedestrian only.  It puts me off going to certain places where it can be a bit of a walk unless you're exceptionally jammy with on street parking.  I don't like wasting a girl's time or fellow punters on here, but if I can find out the address locale ahead of a booking, it's so I can check out streetview maps to see what the parking is like.

Manchester wise, you could park at Sainsbury in Salford for 2hrs? for free and walk into the city centre.
Plenty of parking for around £7/day next to the Salford Quays tram stops as well (across / next to the Ibis Budget and Marriott).

City centre wise, a cheeky way might be to grab a cheap room at the youth hostel in the Potato Wharf / Castlefield area.  Free parking in their car park if a guest (beds £25/night? although prices vary).

….and costs for in all Manchester and maybe Liverpool will increase should they bring in ‘Clean air zones’

Aldi is good for city centre punts but I think you only get 90 minutes free

Toysrus used to be really handy
