Author Topic: why do you need a consultation before a sti test?  (Read 4382 times)

GUM clinics have contact details, always have in order to communicate the results.

Obviously, but sensualencounter was saying that false details were not being accepted. A lot of people give a false name and address and an unregistered payg phone number to get the results on. As the consensus is that this is still acceptable, it might be just in that region, or in fact that clinic, or even that receptionist, where a set of rules has been interpreted in a way that incorrect details would hamper contact tracing. After all many of these sim cards will be in a phone that will be switched off most of the time. Like I said merely a possibility.

To be fair I think it is changing, what information they ask for and it may be also different for some parts of the country/dependent on the clinic. GUM clinics in my experience the past two years have asked for real information, postcode, and they needed to check which GP you’re with. In London however I could get tested completely anonymously with results sent to a phone number, although this was a while ago.

I do worry that’s a bad development if it becomes the standard and I could see it being a problem for anyone who perhaps have no legal address/homeless/moved here illegally no Visa as you should be able to be tested for STIs without necessarily having to register with a GP. I get they want to have access to your medical records and find you on the system, but it will put so many clients off getting checked if they can’t do it anon (especially if married) so it’s a concern that there’s less anonymous options since covid.

It is preferable to have adequate real data and this is beneficial to both parties. There are differences in what individual providers deem adequate. The vast majority of attendees provide this and are happy to do so.

Are you saying that you have attended and been told you must give your real name or you would not be seen? There is a distinction between being encouraged to give your real name etc and insisting on it.

Why would I have a link when it was merely a suggestion? As evidenced by the word maybe at the start of the sentence and a question mark at the end of it. The OP stated that it has been a change in the last couple of times, I simply suggested, what I thought, a reasonable explanation of why that change may have come about.

Apologies .. I was harsh.  :hi:

I’m not trying to put anyone off getting tested regularly, it’s vital that we do that as punters (and escorts). I’m merely stating what’s happened to me. Whether they are doing it wrong or not I don’t know. I wanted to get tested enough to give my correct details. I didn’t want to but I weighed it up and it was more important to get tested.

Unfortunately I’m not really in a position to put in a complaint or query and follow all the bureaucracy.

Just when I was in the mood to punt this talk has killed my libido... for the next 30 minutes or so  :D

OP, just give them an anonymous name as suggested, if they ask for proof of ID then just say you left it in the car and duck out.

Finally, just tell them you sleep around with women whom you've meet on nights out and history you do not know. Alternatively,  tell them you are gay if you can't bring yourself to admitting the truth.

You say duck out but that leaves him untested. As much as I’m sure a lot of us wish to remain anonymous, what’s the worst that will happen? It might get on your medical record but still only the NHS can see it. No partners can see it. You won’t get a letter in the post.
If we’re going to engage in paid for sex then I really think we should all be mature and sensible enough to not worry about embarrassment and GET TESTED.

Btw I don’t think it’s ever been suggested that they ask to see photo ID or anything like that because that’s not true, they won’t ever ask for that, rather they’re asking for real name and postcode so they can find which GP you’re registered with and can see you on the system/ access previous medical records. But again, this is only some clinics not all of them.

But you’re right its a boring topic and extremely un-sexy but if it puts clients off getting tested that might be an issue for levels of undetected STIS that’s all

Went for my sexual health screening today at my local sexual health clinic. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes
I was really surprised how quick I was this time around.  I said I met a girl from a night out with mates and we had a one night stand with no protection.  I later said that I won't repeat that mistake.  Of course that was not the truth.

They said I could expect the results around a week time or so. They test me for all the major stis including HIV So I left reassured and now I can sit back and wait till I get my results via a text message.

Appointments at NHS GUM clinics are totally anonymous, you don't even have to give your real name just contact details. Even if they had your real name they can't pass any info to your doctor without your consent, (unless something drastic).

What's the point in telling them lies?? they are there to help you not judge you. No matter what you say they will have heard it before.

Years ago the first time I went to a clinc for a check as I was a Knob head and had caused a uretha irratation due to excessive wanking and doing 2-3 Soho girls in a day ( when I had cash and they where  15 quid a pop  ) I really thought Id got something and went in to a panic attack

The Staff there where So NICE and Caring they took me to a room sat me down got tea and a sweet biscuit and calmly talked to me the nurse a west indian lady chatted and said she treated Lads like myself the way she would like her Boys to be treated (   :hi: :hi:what a credit to them) . I had to be honest about how many and what id been up to i was given card and rang up a week or so late and spoke to her ...All clear " You try to find yourself a nice girl and look after her regulary ya wont feel tha need to see these type a girl boy" was her sign off line ...Im still looking
