Author Topic: Match betting - who here does it?  (Read 1056 times)

Always been on my radar but never got around to doing it - will likely sign up to one this evening. Was wondering who here does this (potentially to supplement ahem disposable income  :D). Have read a blog on this that it's not completely risk free as mistakes can happen but interested to see what problems / benefits people have had with it.

By match betting do you mean opening a betting account that gives a free bet or matched bet for opening the account  :unknown:

Not sure whether that's what you are referring to or betting exchanges like Betfair  :unknown:

Odds checker is always a good reference tool when checking any odds, they have a free bets page too, I guess once a "Punter" always a "Punter"

Yes, I gave it a go a few years ago and made about £400 if memory serves me correctly. I found that once I ran out of sign up offers on the more well known sites (I wasn't keen on signing up to the dodgy looking ones), it got a lot trickier, and by last couple of months i would have been better getting a minimum wage job for the amount of profit I made vs the hours I put in. Maybe I was doing something wrong.

The only real risk is human error either in betting on the wrong thing or not fully understanding how a particular bet works.

Also, I wouldn't look at it as a long term thing as eventually the betting sites catch on to what you are doing and your account gets banned.

Hope this helped.

I thought match betting was betting on different outcomes for the same event?

Say Hills had Liverpool to win at 4/1, Ladbrokes had Inter to win at 4/1 and Corals had the draw at 4/1 you would bung a quid on with each of them and know you'd win £4 and make a £1 profit.

Obviously it's much harder to find the necessary odds IRL and entails a lot of scouring the markets AND using promotional offers eg new customer incentives to make it work.

Basically, match betting isn't just using free bets..... its more about a multiple bet that cannot lose you money.

Yes, I've done it since 2015 and have made almost £14K from it.  Just do little bits now and again, like the odd offer of a free bet and maybe a low risk casino offer when it comes my way.  Have you signed up to Profit Accumulator?

Thanks for the insight - i've heard that it's not as profitable these days but still good. Haven't signed up yet, but likely to this evening. Maybe try the free trial and see what it's all about and how easy it is.

Thanks for the insight, much appreciated. Hopefully it won't be too much in terms of time spent.

I've never done it but have read about it. Hasn't it rather dried up now?

Yeah many years ago the main bookies were falling over each other to give the best sign up bonuses, this was before internet betting as most people didn't have the net but telephone betting.
I got sign up bonuses of £50 and more then when they moved offshore to places like Malta; Gibraltar and Eire they wanted you to switch to the offshore account version so you could get another bonus from the same bookie

Then they started to work out loads of people signed up to get the bonus but once it was spent they didn't bet anymore so started to introduce various restrictions. Think it was Ladbrokes who said the £50 bonus had to be used on 1 bet so I put it on a footy correct score and it came up @ 10/1 wouldn't have put that much on if I didn't have to  :D  :yahoo:

Seem to recall getting £100 and £200 bonuses 5-10 years ago but they're shit these days by comparison

You are correct, it was easier to make decent money a while back. I it did around a full time job, family commitments and other interests. Think you can still make decent money, if you have the time and multiple accounts. I just don't have the time for it and want to pursue my other hobbies.

Offline mradventures

i do it, but yeah the easy big/decent money times have passed... but you can still do a bunch of signups and then some reloads and that will net you a decent amount of money.
