You can surf the internet and come across all kinds of miracle devices. Everything from make your cock bigger to grow twice the size vegetables.

So what about this oneX

I mean it might be something to save you petrol. Lots of companies out there who can do remaps (Mostly to increase performance) that might give you more MPG.
But the claims made here are ludicrous.

I remember a company selling a device they advertised as a plug in turbo-charger. Forget what they called it. I know enough about cars to know what a load of crap it was and yet people bought it. Of course the company closed once it had made money.

Maybe it’s simply because WANT to believe stuff.

Got one of these (or one like it) a few years ago when they were under a score via a Farcebook ad.

As I thought a waste of money. Seem to remember it affected the performance more than fuel consumption and not in a good way.

Older n wiser now so view anything like this with suspicion!

I chuckle at all the ads that land on me. Obviously my online activity is tracked so currently I'm bombarded with ads for torque wrenches and derailleur cages which suggests I've been fairly civilised in my browsing recently..

This hollowed out pulley cage is pure bike porn. I'd be tempted if it weren't more expensive than my bike! Bloody ad for it has been incessantly popping up for me for a few weeks now so I may yet crack.

As our Government is on a drive to get us to all use electric cars or reduce our motoring so that they can get somewhere close to their carbon neutral targets I would guess that, loss of tax revenues aside, they would be pushing these to be fitted by law in every car if it really reduced the amount of fuel used and there fore the amount of carbon dioxide generated. They would soon enough find a way to claw back the lost tax revenue.
So no, I don't think it works and it's probably just rubbish.

A few years back, a friend, an farmer in Ireland called me.

He asked me what I thought of the magic liquid and African was trying to sell him, apparently he witnessed said African putting a 50 Euro note into it with a plain piece of paper and two 50 euro notes emerging

When I eventually stopped laughing, I told him to get the prick of his property.  :D

I did recently read an article about remapping or chipping a car and it is possible to achieve better MPG at the same time as also getting better performance however if I was getting it done then i'd be getting a garage to install it rather than buying this shit.

Reading the advert all the clues are there about it being a scam especially regarding how much fuel saving you can / will make -
They refer to cutting your fuel consumption in half however they also state you can save 35 cents in the dollar on fuel so that's errr only 35% not 50% and the information on the box says 15%

So which is it  :unknown:

Isn't this rubbish what is referred to as 'click-bait'?

Disgusts me that the people who manage the various platforms (is that the term?) take cash to advertise what is manifestly fraudulent. A while ago I unwisely changed from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge and encountered a home page full of this crap. Plus almost equally fatuous'news items published by the Daily Excess but that is another story.

Yes there was another advert at the side of this one which has been popping up a lot about a device that can save you money showing a picture of someone squirting WD40 into their fuel tank  :dash:

I also agree it's shameful that websites allow this shit to be given any server space

The internet is like the Wild West before sheriffs were around.

The regulations which forced you to justify your claims in the press or on TV don't apply.

Thus creeps like the Facebook Rat get away with murder - and millions.

It is like the period after the collapse of Soviet Russia when in the free for all some ghastly people made hay.

Anything that claims both a power increase and fuel saving without a remap is best avoided, what you have read is true, a professional remap does increase power, and not using all that power can increase mpg, the engine burns fuel better than at factory settings .

When buying a car you are often given a choice of power levels for which you pay more or less, it is a factory remap of the same engine, or a different ECU.

With my previous Golf I had the highest option, but found out the lowest option can be remapped to a higher output than the one I bought could be remapped to, same thing with some BMW models apparently.
My guess is they do not expect the lower power ones to be remapped, but do the higher power, and put restrictions within the ECU.

remapping does push you into the safety margin the manufacturing built into the engine, both for extra power and leaning it out... thats partly how you get the extra performance

Things which are lies:

* Any advert for "miracle" products, especially those which claim "they are hiding this from you"...
* The promises of motor insurers
* The claims of WGs

Ye[, more air means a cleaner bang, will fuck your warranty though, so wait to that expires. They are wise to these things and on some cars clocking the miles to keep it in warranty, the car records the fuel it has used :D

Extraordinary how gullible some people are.

Even bodybuilders can espouse claims that are incontrovertibly absurd.
