It's worrying when the BBC weatherman just said in his usual understated manner..."This weather is very unusual"
Just been watching the breakfast news and they are on location in parts of Wales; Devon and Cornwall, they showed the sea in some costal harbour in Devon saying how rough it was however while it was a bit choppy it actually looked quite calm

Now they've just been talking to some guy who works for a rail network and he was asked if this is the worst it's ever been

His answer was that he's never known it this bad in 30 years but then the second half of the sentence was something along the lines of "for early train cancellations due to storms"
So is it actually worse now than 30; 40; 50 years ago or are we just more H&S conscious with companies quicker to shut things down "Just in case", after all these days if they stay open and someone gets killed the boss is likely to be on a corporate manslaughter charge
What I see happening is the constant nudge theory and reinforcement that it's worse now than it used to be but it's been happening for long enough now that most people believe it so every time there is high wind or a flash flood it's automatically put down to climate change

The wind has always blown and we've always had storms and flash floods etc, i'm happy to accept that these events may now happen slightly more than 100 years ago and that man made climate change is real but to listen to people talking it's as if this never happened before
