It’s all very well taking the ‘P’ out of a person but at least have the respect for them.
A good natured man. Philanthropic.
Google’The East Horsley Estate’
There was a time when caution was important.

Read the thread chaps.
East Horsley was an estate bequeathed to BG by an aunt. He turned the estate around.
I don’t know why I gave the Google link.
Is it beyond the wit of man to not be spoon fed.

I think Richard Whitley (countdown) was another classic quiz show presenter, only 61 .Carol vorderman seems to have gone social media mad lately posting pictures.

It is not beyond the wit; it just tries the patience. Goldfinch provided what was needed. A link. For which much thanks.

as was the OP

Indeed so.

Gascoigne was a delight; so erudite but utterly charming. Never condescending , still less sarcastic. Unlike Paxman who regularly takes the piss whilst frequently tripping up himself with cringeworthy mispronounciation of foreign words.

a drawly voiced toff with a dry wit. you can always remember your first correct answer on university challenge, mine around the age of 9 was, "who said to whom, out of the strong came forth sweetness, out of the stupid came forth strength",  and no conferring.

87 is a good life for a man.
A very good innings,I remember the theme tune and how intelligent they were in the 1980s.Never watched it with Jeremy Paxman.

I can’t imagine seeing escorts at 85,it must be great to still enjoy life and listen to friends dull stories knowing that you have been with a lovely hooker recently.
