He's bang on about some things - but not so much about others.

He stated that only 17,500 people have died of c19 - which is laughably incorrect.
You don't die of flu, you die of respiratory insufficency due to viral pneumonia within 28 days of testing positive for the influenza virus :)

When your schtick is laughing at the left repeating stupidity parrot-style - you've got to be very careful you are not equally guilty of it.

Couldn’t even listen to his voice any longer than 10 seconds. I find him about as funny as cancer of the cock.

If I were in a pub and he tried talking to me like that, I'd politely tell him to fuck off for being a boring twat.

Offline theblade

Awful Person. Can’t stand his whinny voice. :vomit:

He's alright in very small doses.

I prefer History Debunked chap... he's far less showy and shouty. Just quietly witters away rubbishing the left, multiculturalism, the BBC etc etc. Its almost relaxing.

He's just been sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison! I can take him or leave him, but the sentence seems extremely harsh. When you think of what others have done and got much lower sentences, it seems extraordinary.

Ridiculous sentence. Yes he's a pillock but that's sort of sentence you get for carrying a gun. Judge seems to have made an example of him for offering no defence and representing himself.

Notice his shite youtube channel has had several videos removed as well as closing his comment section in the latest pile of shite.

Comes across as an English version of Alex Jones. I.E more reserved poor man, and drops the occasional bit of "truth" in. Really just wants to supplement his income with clickbait shite.

Free speech? The shithead was trying to restrict the speech of those he was stalking

The wierdo that physically stalked Emily Maitlis only got 4 months when he was first convicted and then got 3 years after he was released for breach of the restraining order. To get 5.5 years straight up does seem very harsh, given he went nowhere near them physically. Having said that, it seems there were many more victims than just those who took him to court.

I don't think he was doing that. It was more that he was intimidating people, annoying them, tarnishing their reputations, and so on. I don't know why some of the victims didn't go to the police and/or take legal action very much quicker than they did. Some are claiming he threatened them. If someone threatened me then I'd go straight to the police and probably also speak to my local councillor, etc. Any senior person who could help me I would ask, and as quickly as I could.

I notice there are at least four separate sentences. The judge has decided they should be served consecutively. Now I can't say I'm an avid follower of court sentencing but I'm pretty sure that's highly unusual - they normally direct the sentences are served concurrently, I can't actually remember last time I noticed a judge hand down a sentence to be served consecutively.

I also notice Belfield wasn't found guilty of wrongdoing against ANY of the females he was charged with harassing but judge still issued restraining orders and made some fairly pithy comments about the jury...... I get feeling judge is seething Belfield defended himself and got off all the charges relating to females and has thus misused his sentencing powers to fuck Belfield up.

Cant imagine Belfield will take it on the chin. Reckon he'll come out swinging with a robust appeal soon.

Offline Adoniron

Seen him described as the Jimmy Saville of stalking. Except that he got caught obviously.

He’s a pillock.
But I will never be able to get my head round how sentencing works in this country.

He seems dodgy for his fundraising alone. He also got up to a lot of dubous stuff with in spreading false rumours, and phoning and emailing relatives of the men he was contacting. The part I take issue with is the judge talking about his ability to influence his audience, and cause mental health issues to the people he was contacting. The media have exactly the same influence and can put enourmous mental pressure on people they are reporting on, but I doubt this fact will ever be used against them in any court. If the media make a false allegation they just have to pay a libel settlement. Reading the judge's summing up I think citizen journalism will never be held in the same esteem as the faux journalism that exists in many sections of the media.

My take is that the sentence was harsh. That's down to the individual judge, whom Belfield had probably pissed off. Never a good idea.

Offline DastardlyDick

Trouble with Belfield and a lot of the "free speech" brigade found on You Tube etc, is that  free speech is fine, but only if it agrees with their set of beliefs/view of the world, which isn't free speech at all IMO.
I agree that to hand down a consecutive, rather than the more usual concurrent sentence does seem harsh, but I don't know the Sentencing Guidelines or the Judge's reasoning behind that decision. Even Belfield reckoned the Judge was "good" after he was allowed to report on his own trial on You Tube, when the mainstream media were not.

Yes, you're right. I think the single biggest dubious issue was fact he spent about 12-18 months of the lead-up positioning himself as being the one taking the BBC to court - him suing them basically. I suspect many of his supporters and backers were thus stunned and flabbergasted when it turned out he was actually in court to face criminal charges of stalking.

If he doesn't like the sentence he can appeal.

Defending yourself can give the impression that you aren't taking the court proceedings seriously.  Reporting his case on his youtube channel could also give the impression that he thought public opinion was more important than what the court decided.

Giving the impression that you aren't taking the court seriously would likely piss a judge off.

That and the fact he comes across as a smug cunt. Judges love making examples of smug cunts.

The Black Belt Barrister addresses the sentencing issues here. Although he didn't comment on the reasons as to why the sentences were consecutive;

External Link/Members Only

Perhaps it was to do with the times at which they were committed?

I've never even heard of this chap but from what I read he comes over as a total arsehole. Lots of the comments from the deluded "truthers" (for want of a better description) are ridiculously predictable. A conspiracy around every corner and this bloke out to save us all from our fate. Fucking whack-jobs the lot of them.
