Just found this which was probably a better BBC programme. One of several that demonstrated a link between Pakistani men and Romanian trafficking. Romania is a supply of trafficked victims; to get them into the country a sham marriage is arranged with a Pakistani UK resident, after which the victims are sold on.

It was usually the other way round: purchased Romanian girl forced to marry a Pakistani immigrant to give HIM EU (and so UK) residence rights.
Once married the girl gets used as common property among paying relatives, neighbours and friends. And taxi drivers.......
It's known to happen, but getting the numbers is impossible - however it seems much less common than what would be considered "conventional" trafficking.  (I know that sounds crass but I can't think of a more suitable description)

I can't comment on Scotland, but I can think of a small number of cases in the northern mill towns.

I think it was chicken and egg from what I remember of that documentary. Scutty's outline outline wasn't incorrect, simply that the Pakistanis and Romanian providers had a network of collusion with each other.

I only read the text, and to me it reads that they were in collusion, mainly with a view to Non Eu or British nationals gaining status through EU women, what happened to them after is scary, it seems they were abused by everyone involved.

I just watched the documentery shocking, the victims are children, regardless if they go willingly the Romanian police need to take action what ever their laws are, and Romania being in the EU where's the money gone from the rest of the  EU community, one point now which the DC didn't say when he should have it is UK's problem now we got to deal with it best we can, yes the police do raid brothels but the girls to say nothing besides yes we're ok how the hell does that work, help is at hand, maybe if they had an Romanian interpreter's explaining it might help.
Over all Romanian police pull your thumbs out save your countries children from these scum.
