You're very forgiving for what most on here would consider to be unacceptable business practice.

That’s a fair point, I did think about it but as it was very much an "on the spur of the moment" meeting I didn’t want to treat it as a proper review in this case. If I’d arranged the meeting the day before for example I would’ve done it because I would’ve been majorly pissed off.
