Force of nature, fantastic musician, won't hear a word said against her. Not enough like her in the world.

Apart from that she's crap!

Regardless of what you think of her singing I met her once backstage, as she was singing with someone I know very well. I was drunk and talked shit; she was charming and ignored the fact that I was a boring twat.

Did you get the autograph Colston?    :D

I thought was great in that weird von Trier movie. Respect her as an artist but don’t particularly fancy sitting through a whole album of hers. Maybe if she sang a tune I liked.

Very droll and witty to be sure. I have never asked anyone for their autograph in my life.

I wouldn't say I am a fan exactly, US, but the album Homogenous is excellent and the song Hyperballad (from her second album IIRC) is worth hearing - try the live version on YouTube.

I'm a huge fan. Seen her live lots of times. A few years ago I spent £300 to see her at the Albert Hall and Alexandra Palace.

Unravel is one of my favourite songs of all time. It gets me so emotional. A few days after my Mum died of cancer I got pissed at home on my own and put on Unravel and absolutely burst into tears.

Back in the nineties I had a copy of Mayfair magazine that included a paparazzi shot of Bjork sunbathing topless on a beach. The headline that has stuck in my mind after all these years was, "Bjork's Norks!"

Wouldnt sit through an album but a couple of her songs I do really enjoy

Her debut album was pretty good.  I can't remember what it was called.

I rarely listen to that one but it is so good. I love the scene in the film Leon when Venus As A Boy is playing.

And were they worth seeing?

Didn't mind her, had a CD.... maybe called "Debut" but can't exactly recall. Had long forgotten her to be honest, thought this thread might even have been reporting her death (gulp!).
Her, Moby, Dido... just seems a bit dated and unrelevant today. Reminds me of a period in my life where I was failing dismally to put on a facade of middle-class dinner-partying sophistication. I suppose its not Bjork's fault she reminds me of a wayward point in my life but its not something I can disassociate her from.

I agree. Oddly enough people like Lana Del Ray are effectively doing something similar to Dido, probably a few doing something similar to Moby and FKA doing something similar to Bjork. Long story short the older I get, everything seems like a copy and really boring.

A lot of people seem to find the music they liked in their late teens to be ‘the best’…

Good point. I do like Lana Del Ray though, a total hottie!

I read a novel, quite a long time ago,  ( I think,  but cannot be sure, by James Herbert) the basic premise of which was that the world is gradually being infiltrated by "other elfin creatures". At one point it was discussed how these folk integrate themselves into 'our ' world without drawing too much  attention to themselves, with a notable exception  being " a certain well-known Icelandic singer ".  She is somewhat  otherworldly in looks.

Just checked my long-neglected iTunes library (switched to Spotify nearly a decade ago) and found I have 289 tracks by Björk, including tons of obscure single B-sides and rare remixes.

I used to be a big fan and as recently as 2016 I went to see her singing with a string orchestra. This was tough going in parts but ultimately worthwhile.

For me, her first three albums (yes, her debut international release was indeed called Debut) all stand up well today, but after that she veered into more avant-garde territory, which translates as she stopped writing memorable tunes.

I've got a DVD of her MTV Unplugged show from 1994 (I think this involved a gamelan orchestra) and in her little yellow mini-dress she was almost a babe (see below).

Just noticed there’s a concert movie of her, Bjork Biophilia Live, on Pantaflix download £1.99 looks good if you’re a fan.

In the Art Documentaries section.  :hi:

I was at that gig on that day! She performed on a 360 stage. There was an exhibition at the venue talking about how the album was made. I also saw Oscar winner Tilda Swinton walking around just as we were about to go into the concert hall. It was a really good gig so I will watch the concert movie. Thank you for the heads up!

Edit: Just remembered that during that show she did play a song twice and she said to the crowd that they were recording and the sound wasn't good. So I knew they were recording it for something. It didn't disrupt the show much, the crowd went OTT crazy when she said she was going to play the song again. I was more thinking "good song but don't need to hear it twice let's get on with things yeh?"

Not really a fan of her music, but I liked her in Dancer In The Dark.
You might need to go and hug a baby seal or some fluffy kittens afterwards though as it's a  fucking bkeak film.  :(

Yes I do– but in iTunes. Never had a physical copy. It's interesting but I never felt the need to listen to it more than twice.

A bit Duchamp. (Who of course was a really great artist on another level).

But once you’ve seen/heard it once, ok, remarkable, got the point, no need to play it again Sam.

I'm a fan of some of her songs, but I probably didn't like a full album until verspertine, though it doesn't have her best songs on it, but it's probably the most consistent.

I think Vespertine was the first album for me when I realised she was a really special talent. I though Homogenic was good with hindsight but it passed me by when it first came out because I was so obsessed with Oasis and other britlop bands for a few years.

Not my cup of tea but I have a huge respect for those musicians who compose and perform their own stuff.

Yes I love Venus as a boy.

As for the movie Leon, somebody mentioned. Jean Reno and especially Natalie Portman was brilliant.
