Dancers do tend to have cracking figures.
Unless they’re celebrities

I thought the deaf bint was fucking hot.
Of the real dancers, Katya stands out. Seems like a strong woman, could probably go all night even without cocaine.
Didn’t she dance with a woman — ooops sorry — person with a womb — last year? Which would mean the two gay blokes aren’t
really making history…
I actually had high hopes for the two men dancing together. The swapping-the-lead thing was very clever — congratulations to them — but ultimately gimmicky. Nor was it a dance where such role reversal could be used with any impact unless you were watching very closely. Off the dance-floor, they had no problem looking into each other’s eyes yet for some reason they didn’t display that intimacy when dancing, which was a shame.
This is a big difference between ballroom and contemporary dance. In the latter, one appreciates thr overall technical flair and making of images, whereas ballroom has a certain element — romantic, sexual, or even a display of ‘courtships’, however one describes it — such that there is a dynamic flow of leader and follower, wooing and receiving, a union of opposites which is explored in the tension of movement in lead and follow and the the attitude of each partner. In other words, I would like to have seen some of that chemistry between them. Maybe I am much less gay-phobic than the general viewership but I see nothing wrong in two men having a flirtatious or loving relationship, and I think I could do better at acting that out in the dance than they did. But maybe I missed something. They’re just not my type.
Nice to see grumpy old Shirley back in the judges’ seat again. Is she head judge? She really looks as if she’s had a makeover in the face and hair department. I wonder if the nip-tucks come out of her salary? Unfortunately my sense of good taste forced me to fast forward through most of the show so hopefully I missed any bits that doubtless offended our mango-munching friend.
Should we wish them all good luck? I don’t believe so. I wish the four that make it to the finals good luck and hope they will give us some stunning performances. I believe the format of the show unfortunately is to give the worst dancers extra show time. They call it a ‘dance-off’: but surely they could ‘off’ without inflicting their poor dance performances on us a
second time??
What is it about the British public that they love to see someone get a kicking when they’re down?
