Not sure if this qualifies as really off topic, but it's not about punting as such.
When you create a profile on AW, you need a personal email address, so when I created my service seeker profile, I made up a new address that didn't include my name or anything that could ID me, and this address I only ever use for AW, to check if anyone has replied to an AW email.
Lately, I've had several emails to this account, some obviously sent by computers claiming to be from lonely or sex starved women and inviting me to meet them on dating websites, not doubt to then be scammed out of a load of money to be allowed to send messages to fake profiles.
More worrying though, one of these was obviously from a real person and named my home town.
The only place they could have got this address from is AW, my profile, and how did they know my location unless they also knew my IP number?
Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? I'm not especially worried about it, they are a long way from actually identifying me, but it's a bit creepy.

Have you got your email preferences set up so you don't receive Client Connections, Flirts & Proposals, Newsletters and Mailshots etc.  :unknown:

Also did you fill in the location part of your profile.

Unless you've slipped up as daviemac suggests I'd ask AW for the IPs that have accessed your account as a start.

How about a screenshot of the messages

It happen, usually exactly the same format but different girl and address.

You can see my standard reply that usually, as it did in this case;

A reply saying that she found my profile on a dating site.
Where she has a profile and a link to her profile.

Using a redundant computer I once followed the link and surprise, surprise, egistration was required to see Lisa's profile.

There I stopped but no doubt the next step would have been a need for 'Credits' to see her pictures.

NB: The use of my AW profile name is a give away.  My details have been erased.

Probably not as I'm not that tech savvy. I'll check it out. Glad there's an actual explanation, I was getting a bit paranoid about hacking and such like.

These are three from the same person. My name isn't John BTW, so I don't know where that came from. I have had a couple similar but supposedly from other women.

Go on edit profile, profile details and check what's there.

Then check email preferences.

Most likely from fictional characters, I do receive similar but my email is in public domain.

There was a time when my posts on a forum reflected in the spam I received, I suspected tomfoolery.

PMSL!

Not on the ball today, sorry.

All the details in the email are my UKP account name and the email address on her!
