Author Topic: airbnb can wife see any details  (Read 1093 times)

I have used airbnb for a while mainly booking stays with the wife, and the owners leave reviews on our stay.

I have the opportunity to go away with a female friend and I am again thinking of booking an airbnb is it possible that the wife would be able to see a review mentioning a stay for two when she would only expect a review for one

I am not worried about the booking suddenly being for a double bed instead of a twin

Being a bit of a technofobe I am not sure how it all works.

I know some will say don't bother book a hotel it's easier and safer but the airbnb I am looking at has a hot tub lol

How about creating yourself a punting AirBnB profile, linked to your punting email address and phone number (and even payment card if you have one)? Surely that way any review left for your stay would not attract any suspicion.

in airbnb history it keeps the description of the place you booked and the number of people on the booking etc
you'd have to be looking for it (or it comes up by chance when you're clicking through)...you're better off in a hotel i reckon

You can't control what the host writes in the review which shows up on your account, I've had hosts write 'lovely couple' or similar. The number of guests shows up in the confirmation, If you are booking the whole place and put 1 guest and have 2 I don't think many hosts would be bothered, if they even knew, some charge for more than a certain number of guests but not usually 2.

I'd create another account to be sure.

One other thing is that quite a few Airbnb's are on booking.com which might be easier/cheaper.

I happened to end up in ST, Andrews yesterday and fancied staying overnight, 320 quid ffs, for a 1 bed flat on Air bnb, mind you a 1 bed in the close to town is 400k plus to buy.
got it,s own micro economy going on up there, must be some wealthy students at the uni.
Banned reason: Undesirable, previously banned, still attacking members, discussing UKP with SP, toxic personality, it’s a no from me!,

Not keen on the hotel idea. What if reception puts a call through to your room or a +1 happens to walk past reception as someone calls for you? Airbnb’s are private. Just make sure there’s a large bed (if you’re tall and like to relax).
