Lots of hypocrisy in the comments.
I'd be more concerned myself about STDs and being forced to pay maintenance for 100+ kids down the line.
Man has been biologically designed to spread his seed. He's just doing what nature intended... And what many powerful men did in the past.

Let's be honest, deep down inside, what man wouldn't like to "donate" his seed to as many women as possible?

Me for one, call me old fashioned but I wouldn't want to father any children I couldn't support or be involved in their lives if I had split with the mother.

As somebody who once approached a sperm clinic as a donor (didn't go through with it, for reasons) I can well understand why people would want to do things the old fashioned way. The difference between what a clinic pays a man for their "deposit" and what they charge to stick it in a woman, is eye-watering. Pretty confident that weight for weight, sperm is worth more than gold in that scenario.

The one benefit to going the sanctioned route is that although donors have no right to anonymity any more, they are freed from any parental obligation (at least under current laws, who knows what will change retroactively in the future). So, no name on the birth certificate, no child support, etc.

Why would you be worried about paying maintenance it’s a straight forward contract of donation of your sperm and how grateful for her to finally get a kid .?The story makes sense, she’s saving money on fees,£1200,by doing it naturally in hotels with strangers, similar to a hooker.Suprised they wanted to become an item probably unwise but they may get on well together.

What you describe isn't sperm donation, it's two people having unprotected sex and the bloke would be responsible for maintenance.

Absolutely NOT old fashioned and very much my thoughts on the subject.

I'm with Davie on this.

I think that the key is in the name, it is a donation, and any monies are really meeting legitimate expenses rather than salary.

The costs to the recipient are around screening, testing and storing the sample and not just simply mark up.  Also plus the costs of the insurance from when folks sue the company for something and nothing.

Personally I'd happily donate, the only concern I'd have for my progeny is that I'd feel much more comfortable about supporting a couple to conceive rather than a single woman. Not out of any moral judgement, its just that supporting a single woman to conceive means that any child will be left without any parent should anything untoward happen to her.

I am referring to the story in the daily mail. The bloke has fathered 150 kids.

Yes legally he would be responsible for maintenance,150 children, lots of work for the CSA to contact him then.

It doesn't matter, you said it's a it’s a straight forward contract of donation of your sperm and that is not correct. For one thing with donation through an official sperm bank the mother's partner has automatic parental rights, a donation done privately through natural insemination leaves the possibility that they don't. Plus there's a load of other legal differences including no chance of any financial liability with a sperm bank but the chance of there being such a liability with a private arrangement.

Basically you can't just assume you can walk away from a private arrangement without responsibilities.

BTW, he claims to have fathered 150 children.

Correct,it's not something to go into with your eyes closed.(unless she's really ugly).
