I've read somewhere that there was believed to be a sealed grand jury murder indictment waiting for him if he ever returned to the USA, arising from the incident in Belize where his neighbour was killed.

He certainly led a colourful life, rumour has it he developed one of the first computer viruses so he could bring out a virus checker 
At 75 he possibly figured he'd spend the rest of his life behind bars in the US, maybe he thought he'd scrrew them one lst time by saying he was in good shape and likely to be bumped then kill himself.

So true and very dismissive to suggest money is a magic happy potion for all iifes ills.
One of those mentioned above was a good friend of mine and I've also lost another close friend to suicide in the last 2 years,he also had a seemingly idyllic life.
It didn't stop him waking up one day and out of the blue killing himself though.

If someone is mega rich, there is a general expectation that they should be happy.  In practice, while it solves some problems, it can add all sorts of other pressures.

Let’s face it. Would make no difference to some people if they had pots of dosh or nothing at all. It’s something inside some people that just makes them manic depressive.

Tony Scott had cancer. Years ago, I read that it was inoperable brain cancer, but dont know if this is accurate.

Agreed that money can alleviate some of the things that make you unhappy (such as hunger), but that doesn't mean it can buy you happiness.  There are plenty of things that can make you unhappy (loss of a close friend or family member, for example) that money can never solve.  And there are plenty of problems that money brings in its wake (such as false friends only after your money).

Agreed that I'd rather be rich than poor, but that doesn't mean I'd be trouble-free.
