Yes well done to the Lawn tennis association for following most sports for doing this. Including the FIM for kicking out two Russian riders from the Speedway World Championship.  Artem Laguta who is the reigning World Speedway champion and fellow countryman and World number 3 Emil Sayfutdinov will not be allowed to race in this year's Grand Prix series to decide the World Speedway champion

It is not virtue signalling it is doing what they are able to send a message that the invasion is unacceptable.  It is a hope that unified international action will prevent us having to put boots on the ground and risk WW3 because of the idiot/monster in Moscow

True its not virtue signalling and I didn't mean to hijack the tennis thread by mentioning another sport but it's only right that all sporting bodies ban Russians from taking part to show their discust at Putins actions and show support for the Ukraine nation , not that it will bother that madman one bit.

I don't often agree with mills and bhuna  - but i think its unfair and unnecessary to ban individual people from sport for merely being Russian when they are competing on their own behalf and not representing their country. I thought sport was meant to be above/outside of politics but understand and totally agree with Russian being banned from say football where the team represents Russian.  However, for example, a tennis player plays on his on behalf and is entered into the competition as an individual. It wouldn't have been to hard to just have brought in a rule that the player couldn't wear or have anything showing that was "russian" like a T shirt or flag etc.

I think it goes beyond that. Putin is so afraid of Russians knowing the truth he has clamped down on all media, social media etc. Hopefully some in Russian might wonder at why so many countries and sports bodies are taking this action and that might sow a few seeds of doubt.

The US and UK attacked Iraq illegally based on lies which the leaders knew about and not a peep has been raised then or since about US or UK athletes being banned from international competitions.
No doubt someone is going to call it 'whataboutism' but that's usually because they don't want to face their own hypocrisy.

I don't think they had any more or less personality than anyone else.

 Both sexes should play the same amount of maximum sets in my view, either best of 3 or best of 5, not best of 3 for women, but best of 5 for men. Thats not what i class as equality. I like to see them play long exciting matches so best of 5 sets for men and women would be my choice if i had any say in it.
