I think you might find that Nadal has withdrawn and Mr Murray was knocked out.
So your prediction is way off the mark.

Are you suggesting Djokovic wins because he's got a better racket?

Djokovic played great to win the french open, unfortunately for men’s tennis federer,Nadal and Novak are always in the finals of all the grand slams. The sport is of no interest to the youngsters.Golf on the European tour and PGA tour has different winners every week.

If you think the crowd at Wimbledon is made up of old codgers, you might want to look a little harder at the TV.

I'd speculate tennis is the most popular sport amongst women.

Does anyone else find tennis has lost some of its natural charm?

Obviously it’s a sport for women and men, and a lot of men are very good at it… but in the days when women wore little short white skirts while knocking the ball with sledgehammer force there was something unique about it… women players could display immense power while still looking cute and utterly charmingly feminine. I think it’s reflected in the fashionista parades that are still a big part of Wimbledon. A big social event where well-dressed women can show off their plumage. It doesn’t happen to such an extent in other sports — imagine if the posh lot got all arty-farty for rugby (iconically a man’s game!)

Somehow the women players — and the fashion police who direct what they can wear — have lost touch. Not just with dirty old men who like to ogle: but with women fans who are decidedly and unashamedly  beautifully and attractively attired.

Tennis has something in common with cricket. It’s great for fans of the sport who know all the rules and details: but it’s also great for ordinary folk who just enjoy watching it as a quite relaxing spectacle. Yeah. Love all. And pass the popcorn.
Pleased I got that off my chest.

And the grunting. Ohhhh, that grunting! FFS. I simply cannot watch a women's match now, it makes me either laugh or cry (and for all the wrong reasons).

With her looks and the Romanian/Chinese mix she would clean up, but she is going to make more money than she could ever spend before she is 21, not just from tennis, that will be hot property with sponsors and advertising, in demand for TV work and heaven knows what else.

Providing the press do not destroy her, I think pressure at Wimbledon got to her, in the States as an unknown qualifier she has escaped it.

A generalisation that is being progressively reinforced by the increasingly vapid global culture being fashioned by the concerted efforts of all those influencing consumerism.  That said, it is less effective in domains where talent is bestowed by Nature wholly independently of the looks it also grants.  Sure if corporations begin to insist on the looks that their talents have then there will be much surgical alteration of the naturally talented and, when "bionic" technology matures and public tastes are prepared, we will also have naturally "beautiful" persons trained and enhanced to perform at the peak of physical excellence.  But then we're heading down the rabbit-hole of what will beauty be if it is democratised and anyone can afford a face and body change/augment?

Complicated argument. But can I just offer one 'apologia' for natural beauty that is even, dare I say, 'sexy'?

I started to switch on for tennis when the women's costumes were still often quite 'flirty', not for any great interest in the sport, just to watch pretty women jump around. It gradually got to the point where I thought I'd better find out what "Love" and "Match" meant. What delightful terms!

After seeing how they played and were scored I started taking an interest in the game itself. whether played by men or women. Would you deny that is a natural, healthy progression? If nothing, I have enlarged my knowledge and enjoyment of the sport.

But it started with skimpy knickers and diving cleavage

I also like cricket. I can probably tell you the rules if I really had to search my memory, but it is (and has remained since schooldays) a pleasant way of spending a couple of hours doing nothing. Beyond that,

I like the symbol, and when there's a major rumpus one can exclaim, pun intended, that that's "just not cricket!!"

I must have missed the rule where you couldn't talk about anything more than 2 years old.
She was the highest earner at the time.
And not from prize money.
What a pointless comment but it was a bit easier to follow than your waffle above

Being deliberately obtuse how cunning.

You could've perhaps tried to make a better point with Sharapova if you're trying to say something about disproportionate earnings...  but then "only" 38+ million from prize money yet a net worth of 150+ million  :unknown:
How about Naomi Osaka?

Kournikova was doing pretty well with her tennis until all the injuries (much like many top players whose careers were curtailed) and you seem to be penalising her for her singles record rather than her overall success from her stronger doubles game bringing her prize total to >3.5 million by 2003 compared to her net worth of c.50 million, which rose significantly after retirement, thus needing a fair amount of graft to create a personal brand that attracted greater sponsorship interest than when she was a player.

Williams girls are hardly oil paintings nor are many of the other top women and men playing yet they're all being courted for much greater sums than their prize winnings.

Federer has his aesthetic challenges yet after only bagging 150+ million on court he's got as much as 900 million on his latest spreadsheets.

Even more boring is F1 - has been dead since 1st May 1994 - the sound of the V10s upto 2005 was the only good thing then - they should get rid of this hybrid crap

Back to the subject - women's tennis is boring as well - who wants to watch slow tennis and excessive grunting - 2 sets taking as longer then men's 3 set match

The point is you play for the country you were born in, FFS!!

I was born in Scotland (admittedly we are shit at sport), the current Scotland football team has a couple of non Scots, they are mercenaries not true countrymen if that makes sense. International sport becomes a mockery when you have a team of non natives indulging in a professional scenario.
