Author Topic: Tis the tennis season  (Read 8022 times)

Online c1der79

Now, I happened to be at home this afternoon and the ladies tennis from Eastbourne was on the telly. I am quite up on my sports but a nice Italian who I have never seen before called Camila Giorgi was playing. Apparently she had been around for over 10 years - she is 31 years old and is certainly good for it.

Googled her and she has an impressive back catalogue including a lingerie photoshoot.

I will follow her career with interest.

Petra Kvitova for me is the one who is the most attractive and hot. Of course different tastes for different people but she does it for me every time.

Martina Hingis will always be my GOAT but Petra is in 2nd place - I love those Czech girls. Yes I now Martina is Swiss but she is really Czech!

Kournikova anyone??

She was the closest to a glamour model who also happened to play a bit of tennis

Tennis is on Prime TV most weeks.

Nothing special about Giorgi ..... except her dad who is  :scare:

Kvitova?  Nah.

If you're going for looks then Paula Badosa every time

All the others mentioned are long retired.

Camilla Giorgi has a permanent frown .... even in her racy lingerie photos .... so, no, nothing special.

She certainly doesn't stand out from the other tennis ladies and I was surprised to see the OP.

Paula Badosa though could certainly be described as a classic beauty.

watched the highlights. Ranked 338 in the world.
Certainly didn't play like 338 in the world.
Looking forward to her next match

I'm not a tennis fan. One of the few sports I have no interest in and I know there are a lot of people who do follow Wimbledon but can anybody explain to me why the BBC give it saturation coverage. Its on both BBC1 and BBC2 at the same time for fucks sake

As for it being on both channels it's very popular simple as that,I can't see why football is on any channel as it's boring but I can accept many people think otherwise.

Football is simply the world's most popular sport. Even the European championships are not shown on both channels at the same time with the exception of the final . Is tennis really that popular  :unknown: always strikes me as being a bit of a toffs sport

Yes it is really that popular,it might be a "toffs sport" as you call it in the UK but is far from that in Europe and wider.
Football is not shown on both channels very often as that would be far too boring.

It would be interesting to see what the TV viewing figures for the mens Wimbledon final compared to the European championships final (especially if England make the final). I know where I would put my money on being the highest viewing figures .

Well if we are talking about sports.
American football (Gridiron) or baseball for that matter.

I sat through a super bowl years back with some mates.
You know the idea. Make hot dogs, drink bud etc.

It was feckin hours of total shite.
I did read somewhere that an average game might last something like three and a quarter hours.
But the actual time spent with ball in play is a mere 12 minutes.
No wonder yanks are so fat. You go watch a game and you’ve got all that time to snack.

Most boring games on earth come from the states.

I just happened to catch a match yesterday and could not leave it until the end, Ons Jearbue  was a nervous wreck at the start and puked on court before playing match point, but bloody amazing skills during the match. enjoyed every minute of it.

If it were not for the nerves I fancied a bet on her, some of her drop shots were simply amazing and described by champions as impossible, obviously not.

Not listed in most of the websites I have checked. Even sports like football have millions of participants when you take into account amateur players all over the world. Even table tennis (played by millions of Chinese) and sports like golf, badminton and squash are high in the lists. I would say fishing is more of a recreation pastime  :hi:

At least it's not a crappy pantomime fixed sport like boxing although I've encountered plenty of fixing in tennis when I was working.

I think your getting confused with WWE wrestling.  Now that is a joke sport. In fact I can't see how they can class it as a sport.

Have a look at this

From T’Internet

Sport (or sports) is all forms of usually competitive physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants, and in some cases, spectators.

Skills and entertainment sometimes with an audience. “

Off you go and find me a better definition.
It’s not the winning
It’s the taking part

IMHO

The run up to any big fight looks like a pantomime to me sans Widow Twanky and even though I rarely traded boxing I can recall many bouts where I knew the result beforehand.
And you are being very disrespectful to tennis players.

But in the case of WWE wrestling it's all pre choreographed and the outcome chosen beforehand.  Entertainment probably  a sport definitely not.

Have to disagree with the comments regarding boxing being fixed.
Albeit I think there could be some evidence to back it up ………. On occasions.

The glove split by a certain American boxer when our Henry was on top for instance.

I’d also think any sport that had the likes of Don King involved in it, might be tarnished a bit.

But the majority of boxing. Certainly not.

Disrespect to the likes of Michael Watson and Gerald McClellan.

Of course it is and the fans know.  It's entertainment.

Do you shout out in the cinema that a car chase is fake?

Or when Coronation Street is on say "this is bollocks Tim doesn't really live with Sally, look they're 2 metres apart all the time."

Have to admit that I judged the way the games are going in women’s games by judging how erect their nipples are.
It’s a pretty good guide.  They get harder when they’re up.
