Awful scenes with Eriksen. Hope he can pull through

He's stable in hospital according to EUFA

No collision he just collapsed.  Shocking scenes and terrible coverage that shouldn’t have been aired.  Not looking good, hoping he pulls through

From UEFA's twitter:

"Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."

It reminded me of Mark Vivian  Foe in 2003. He unfortunately did not pull through.

That's good news .Hopefully he will make a full recovery

That's one of the worst things I've seen. That TV coverage was also despicable. He appears to be stable, and that's the only thing that matters at this moment.

I believe the Denmark game is actually going to restart at 7.30 with agreement from both sets of players, that's actually a really good sign that Erikson will be OK long term

Finland 1-0 up against Denmark, and Belgium - Russia underway (0-0 after 7 mins).

Belgium two goals up. Looking good and with Lukaku they could go all the way.

Depending on how England and Scotland perform in there first matches, how do you think the Eng v Sco will turn out

First up England v Croatia, I see this game going anyone way, but might say, the game might end up a draw

If Scot keep playing as they have, I see a slight chance we might beat Eng, but if we do it will be a close game, possibly 1 - 0, and if Scot lose, it will be the same score result

Offline ulstersubbie

Would love to see Scotland win at Wembley but it ain't gonna happen. A draw would be a result!

Best we can hope for is to be one of the third placed teams that go through from the group stage. Thirty odd years of watching Scotland f*"k up at tournaments has taken its toll on me.

So it appears that the team will be Pickford; Walker, Stones, Mings, Trippier; Phillips, Rice, Mount; Sterling, Foden, Kane. I have to say, I'm slightly miffed by this team. Why take two LBs, only to end up selecting Trippier? I'm a fan of Sterling, but if we're being honest, he's been somewhat out of form for some time. I always suspected that selecting who plays on the left of the front three would come down to Sterling, Rashford and Grealish, and it was a no-brainer; Grealish starts.

Let's see what happens but if it is Rice and Phillips at least that frees up Mount and Foden to play much more further forward then if it was just 1 CDM.

Agree about Trippier / Sterling however having some pace in behind is never a bad thing. Always thought he'd choose one of Sterling, Rashford or Sancho for that reason.

So excited now!!!

With the loss of TAA then Trippier is the next best thing at putting balls into the box, not a big fan of Mings, I would prefer Coady, and as for Grealish, definitely a starter, with the yellow card collectors of Lovren and Brozovic in the Croatian defence then free kicks in and around the box are nailed on with Grealish in the side, will be interesting to see the line ups around 1pm.

I think Reece James might have somehting to say about that. The issue is that playing Trippier at LB creates an imbalance. His natural instinct will always be to cut in rather than provide natural width. I can understand doing it in an emergency, but for the first game, when you have two fit and able LBs?

Offline The0neAnd0nly

Teams in and you were 100% on the money RatedDJ. Chilwell apparently not into the squad due to injury and we all know Shaw can be a liability. Trippier played LB at the World Cup and did well and as mentioned his set pieces are very good.

We all know what England have but as the manager Southgate has to consider Croatia and their danger, players and tactics which as fans we of course never do (speaking for myself.)

Gutted Grealish isnt playing but reckon he will feature heavily in the tournament. Dont forget Crotia on paper are the hardest game in the group so being more conservative makes sense.

Understandable Chorley .I too lost interest in football after many years of being a season ticket holder at my local team. Apart from years of poor results the thing that drove me from the game is the constant diving and cheating that goes on and the fact it is a sport driven by money and greed. I am more interested in Rugby Union and Rugby League now days. Sports that are played by tough men who show more respect to match officials. Having said that as a patriotic English man I will be watching and cheering on England. Not sure I will be bothered to watch some of the other games until the knockout stages.

Deserved win for England.  Boring game though.

Why was it deserved? Geniuine goal threat and scoring situations were barely in evidence from either side.... game could have been 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1without any complaint. England scraped and scrapped their way to a win in a dour atttritional match. Job done and move on to next game which will probably be even more dour and akin to a 90 minute arm-wrestle. Beat Scotland and we can rest the 1st XI for final match safe in knowledge we are already in the knockout stage so today's 3pts are very handy.

Considering who England might get in the next round, Group F runners up, could consist of; Portugal, Germany, France, or Hungry

Your going to meet the strong teams sooner or later so why worry. To be the best you have to beat the best  :unknown: Croatia looked a pale shadow of the team that beat us 3 years ago in the World Cup semi final.

Well done Southgate and his back room staff the teamplan forced Modic deep where he couldn't make the telling passes

But it was a game that we needed not to lose - hope he doesn't go with the same team for the games we have to win

Agreed well done boys 👍 typical group stage match slow and tense think England started really well and Southgates decisions were justified in the end. Onwards and upwards

I though we looked really goo the 1st 20 minutes then went off the boil until half time, 2nd half we were again the better side and I thought we should have won by more than the 1 goal.
Kane wasn't in the game and clearly isn't 90 minute match fit, he also took a couple of hard knocks which won't help him get back to 100%

I'd have hooked Kane after he collided with post and put DCL on then. I'd start DCL next game cos Kane was shit. I think his transfer from Spurs is distracting him.

Or the Eriksen thing has hit him.

The other thing when it comes to tournaments is the heat, not something our players are routinely used to.

I think it was deserved, but only just. England were insightful and energetic during the first 20 minutes before Croatia began to assert themselves. I actually liked a bit of what Croatia did in the middle third, with Kovacic driving with the ball, and Mordic, despite his advancing years and much of his work taking place in deeper areas, reminding us that he has been a class act for some time, but ultimately, they were somewhat subdued in the final third. They certainly miss Mario Mandžukić. It is clear that Southgate wanted to risk little, but England did control the game at the most important moments and created the most clear-cut chances.

The Eriksen thing must be on his mind to an extent as they played together however he has been out injured so if he's still carrying a slight knock and isn't 100% fit then it will affect his performance however i'm not sure he actually had any real chance.
You'd normally see him in the box looking to pick up loose balls and any rebound or deflection etc but he seemed to be absent today and Stirling was doing most of the hard work.

In terms of the heat they were playing in London, good job it wasn't somewhere like Greece or Turkey

Good win for England. Did what they had to do for the win. Against Scotland I expect Southgate to put out a more offensive line up.

Netherlands v Ukraine has been an open entertaining game, with the Dutch now leading 3-2.

Netherlands game was the best so far for the neutrals. England can learn a thing or two going forward like the Dutch.
I’d like to see Grealish start the next game and see if he can provide some flair.

Yes, very true. Also by winning group we'd stay at Wembley. Coming second would mean playing in Copenhagen. I'm guessing that having squad in same place rather than upping sticks for an away jaunt is much more preferable. Ultimately, pissing about trying to finish 2nd would probably blow up in our faces.... much better to just build a winning momentum I reckon.

Not sure what happened in terms of a collision with another player etc but really bad sight to see a Denmark player down having chest compressions on the pitch

I was watching live but had glanced away when it happened and assumed he'd had a collision or been tackled but the commentators were just stunned. I rewound on Sky Q to see what happened and hoped it was a simple fainting due to dehydration - though unlikely, so was a heart attack! I feared the worst but was incredulous at the fact that he spoke to teammates later before they went back out to finish the match!

Yeah that was my experience in that I was half watching the game and half doing stuff on my laptop so didn't know what led up to him going down

There were a few at the time saying how the game shouldn't have restarted and even the Danish coach is now saying it was the wrong decision, shame he didn't make his point at the time then  :unknown:
There was quite a long time between the match being stopped and restarting again and if Erikson had been unstable or of high concern then they couldn't and shouldn't have restarted but the fact is he was sat up in bed.
The other option was to kick off again the next day but as was said at the time how many players would get a good nights sleep after that

You know the players change each tournament, yeah?

In fact most of this group of players in this England squad seem level-headed, well-mannered and thoughtful (Maguire may be the exception!). I think it comes from the manager's expectations as much as anything, maybe he has selected a group who won't preen.

The performance yesterday was good, not exceptional and there was no killer instinct. A 1-0 win with such a skill, possession and tactical advantage always concerns me. If that shot had gone in off the post (or keeper) early on then it might have been a different story.
