I presume you took his car reg number when he followed you and reported it to the police. 
Equally, I'm curious as to why, when being followed by an angry "husband", instead of driving to a) a police station or b) if you didn't know where that was, to somewhere with lots of CCTV, like a supermarket?
And as you both had mobiles by your own admission (or at the very least, your brother), why didn't you call the police when it was evident you had someone stalking you both? And why did angry husband a) let "brother" out of the house and b) let "brother" call you to come to his rescue? Maybe it was delayed anger.....? And how did your brother get there in the first place if he needed you to pick him up????!!!
Top tip: The very LAST place I'd take someone is their house or my house if I was being stalked.
This lacks credibility and makes precisely zero self preservation sense. Not wishing to be rude, but it does imply you're collectively one can short of a six pack, with all due respect.
That alone doesn't add up to me, but even more so in light of the observations others have made.
