I am puzzled as to why pimps - the worst apparently Romanian - are called Sergei. It's not a Romanian name, or Hungarian or anything but Russian. There don't seem to be that many Russian whores around. Can anyone explain?

Same way people refer to guys as "Chad" or "Pierre" - a derogatory use of the name which covers anyone east of the iron curtain, regardless of their actual nationality or ethnicity. Why bother learning when you can tar everyone with the same brush.

Because no one here knows the most popular men’s Christian name in 🇷🇴 Romania or Hungary 🇭🇺

This is true. Sergei it is then.

Actually, the name is Latin in origin, and hence Roman.
And as Romanian is one of the Latin languages, it's arguably also a Romanian name.
The Russians borrowed it from the French name, Serge, (also a Latin language), so it's easy to argue it's not a Russian name, just a popular man's name in Russia that's an adaptation of the French original.

The name is of Russian origin, as I said - not French at all, And nothing at all to do with Latin. I can assure you of that: I have worked in Romania, Italy, Russia and lived in France.

If we don't know where Sergei is from, neither do his girls?

She does seem to have a pair that could reach across borders! :)
