It’s sad to see Cheltenham without spectators but admit it was a mistake to allow last years meeting to go ahead ten days before the full lockdown.
Rachael Blackmore showed her skills again, nice to see her take on the men and beat them, to think at one time female jockeys were unheard of. Hollie Doyle is also brilliant on the flat.
Hopefully limited spectators will soon be allowed again.   :hi:

One of my main bases is GCHQ in Cheltenham.... For selfish reasons thank f*** no spectators were allowed at Cheltenham . It is carnage when the crowds arrive....... Though you can rent your apartment out for £900+ for the week, easily....  :)

I have never been but a friend normally books a hotel with four others for a few days so it must be a big money spinner for the local economy.
I prefer meetings that are not so busy, such as Windsor evening fixtures.

Forget the Irish v British, Rachel Blackmore 5  Great Britain 4, still kicking myself for not getting the 100 quid punt on her last winner, work is a bummer sometimes, she rode the perfect race on that one. A pure natural on horseback.

Money-spinner it most certainly is.....

Any tips for the Gold Cup then?

A surprise if the winner doesn't come from the top two in the betting. No reason to desert ABP for a 3rd win.

Captain Kangaroo in the 2nd race might be worth an each way dabble and is already 25/1 into 14's.

Got a tip for the 3 o’clock tomorrow. Creosote, I’ve heard it’s good over fences.

I see a punter (of the horse racing variety!) had a £5 five-race accumulator and after his first four races all came in, Betfair offered him a deal on his winnings if he forwent the last race. He'd bet on Envoi Allen - the clear favourite. He took the deal and Envoi fell! He walked away with £250k and Betfair had egg on their face. Nice  :)

He gets 250k and Betfair get a PR exercise and a host of mug punters placing similar bets. Everyone a winner. Social media is always full of punters placing large accumulators and then moaning when one let's them down. They are the backbone of the industry along with those addicted to the gambling machines in the bookies. Quite sad really.

Glad to hear that he took the deal especially as the horse fell but I always think "In play" betting / cashing out doesn't give great value.
Chances are he could have layed the same horse on the exchange and made a better overall profit.

I know a guy who regularly puts on 10 or 12 bet accumulators but when the 1st 8 come in he cashes out, I pointed out that he may as well just do the initial 8 bet accumulator  :unknown:

No idea.    Gambling is a mugs game; though I do stick a fiver each way on the National.

If i was tipping, i'd go for Plum. It's only carrying a stone  :hi:

I agree Jimmy, it is great to see Rachael Blackmore doing so well, she is in the form of her life. Bryony Frost is another very talented jump jockey. Wouldn't be a surprise to see either of them take the Gold Cup this afternoon.

Well the actual winner in the end hadn't been mentioned much beforehand. More interesting than a third win for the favourite. I managed to sneak in fourth, which despite the small field was paid as a place so came out ahead. :drinks:

It is carnage when the crowds arrive.......

I was working in Evesham during race week and driving back to Bristol daily, the driver took a wrong turn so instead of heading towards the M5 J9 we ended up going through Cheltenham at 5pm  :scare: :scare:

I had the winner of the last at 8/1 so no harm done. Hopefully we can return next year as it is an excellent day out. Aintree in a few weeks
