Author Topic: Now the UK is outside the EU: Punting in the EU  (Read 2712 times)

Hopefully everything is all right in summer and we could all have an enjoyment with punting in other European countries.

Now with the UK outside the EU, I am aware that no visa is required but the UK will be treated like any other third countries such as US, AU, CA, SG, etc.

Now what would it be like with other requirements in the gate??

-   Do they ask you proof of the accommodation ??
-   Do they ask you proof of travel insurance?
-   Do they ask you proof of sufficient funding?

Also, When the UK is in the EU, they could not legally ask you what you want to do in the Germany (say). But now they could legally ask this question. You certainly do not like to say I am going to visit Brothels, FKKs, RLD, GB parties, Swingers Parties, etc. What do you think the best answer for this?

Thanks

Only for this year, but come 2022, you will need a visa to travel to Europe, and it will operate the same as if traveling to the USA

Regarding traveling to the US, I do not think a VISA is needed. You need an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), but not a Visa.

Tell them you've come to Germany to eat sausage and drink beer.  To be honest, I don't see the German immigration officials about to give you a hard time because you've got a UK passport.

I seem to remember reading quite a while ago that the EU were thinking of an ESTA style requirement. Having used the US and Canadian versions in the past they are easy to use, all done electronically and all you need to put for purpose of visit is tourism. When you get to immigration they are far more likely to be bothered about proof of a return booking and somewhere to stay. Never had a problem even in the US and they don't come more difficult/obnoxious than their immigration people. As for Spain, they are desperate to get the Brits back and when it suits them don't give a rat's arse about EU rules, so you are unlikely to have problems there.

Don't try to come into the EU via France.
Making a judgement on what you've said and the lack of a genuine reason to travel; you'd almost certainly get turned back by French Immigration and be on the next flight back to the UK......as happened to the woman in front of me recently: Despite her protestations.

I agree with France. France is a punting desert anyway.

your there to see the attractions. honestly european cities and towns are typically much nicer than ours, so honestly its probably worth trying to see some touristy stuff too.

When I go for a punting tour, the girls are the attractions. I could give a fig for the local museum and church, I can look at those in my civvie time.

How are European cities and towns nicer than ours? You might live in a shithole, but I've travelled extensively in Europe, and the UK need not be ashamed of it's heritage and culture.

Instead of advising people to go to the local farmer's market or other non punting activities, why don't you invest some time in sharing some reviews/field reports of your punts? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

We can all agree that, that's what we're here for anyway.

Easiest thing, dress like a photographer, have a camera around your neck and just say you're a tourist and want to see the attractions.

And if the attractions are WGs, well, it's their own fault for not making that assumption.

The camera helps sell the "tourist" look since lots of people use that excuse for when they have other reasons for visiting a country.

the buildings, public transport?, inferstructure, ive generally found it to be better than my experience here (mostly south west). maybe the biggest difference is the quanity or area of the nice/interesting bit of towns in the uk is smaller ? maybe ive just been unlucky/lucky with my sample.

and to me personally theres no difference in my time allocation, i guess if theres some reason to concentrate on just punting because of family or work etc then thats fine. but the for me the cost of opportunity is pretty high, so i want to make the most of my time in a place, and i might never get the chance to return. and theres women nearly everywhere selling sex, but theres only one of a tourest attraction, and your there anyways. But thats just my viewpoint. I guess you travel light, have easy quick access to an airport, then a quick trip to some foreign city is alot cheaper/easier than it is for me.

...blah blah nothing useful blah blah...

Why have you posted no reviews nor contributed anything of value?

If you're not a punter, fuck off.

If you are a punter, then kindly share your punting experiences so that it helps others.

Correct, very easy to obtain online, not very expensive.

Agree with that comment 100%, I always feel guilty going through American border control even though I am doing nothing wrong.  :unknown:

How do you think I feel? I'm an Asian guy who can grow a beard in week.

Haven't had to travel to the US much except for work so never punted there. Also don't the rest of Europe is as... Security conscious as the US'S TSA.

Don't bother, it's about 10x the price as in the UK for service that's about 10x worse.

Yeah, figured that was the case since it's pretty much illegal over there.

I imagine if it became outlawed here as well that prices would go up.

It depends on which EU country and at what border points an individual is trying to gain access to from particular country. After refugee crisis in EU border checks in East and central Europe , Hungary , Ukraine , Russia , Belarus , Moldova etc are highly stringent especially for people of colour (foreign born or domestic) and can take 'some' time and awkward looks and conversations.

That would depend on the passport you have and how you're getting into the country.  I don't think the Hungarian immigration are expecting many people to step off a flight that originated in the UK and claim asylum at Budapest airport.
