I really miss the huge HMV and Virgin Megastores on Oxford Street. Me and my mates were really into our music, films and games and would spend nearly two hours there each weekend looking at everything. The lower floor at Virgin had musical instruments so we would look at those too. Seems like such a silly thing to miss but I do. I work in Chelmsford every couple of months and they still have an HMV (although I much smaller one) and I pop in and it brings back nostalgic memories.

Try FOP on Shaftsbury Avenue when they re-open, if they reopen, not as big as Virgin, HMV, or the mega store that used to be at the end of Piccadilly, but pretty good for CDs & DVD's.

Try FOP on Shaftsbury Avenue when they re-open, if they reopen, not as big as Virgin, HMV, or the mega store that used to be at the end of Piccadilly, but pretty good for CDs & DVD's.

Yes I forgot to mention that in my post. FOP does scratch the itch to an extent. I like having a look around Forbidden Planet over the road as well.

Someone mentioned video shops. I had a big Blockbuster near me and I used to browse to get an idea of what films were out. I used to often buy 3 ex rentals for £20. Streaming is convenient but does not have the same charm for me. Used to love getting home on a Saturday with a few bags from HMV with CDs and DVDs to listen and watch. I rarely buy CDs now as everything is on Spotify so I aided the downfall of high street shops.

Perhaps Jim Davidson has "Refreshed" his act, don't know 

So while many will still flock to watch them it's just that they don't necessarily get aired on live prime time TV now, but then again there were also top of the bill comedians such as Jasper Carrott from back then who also aren't prime time anymore.

Saw Jasper Carrott in concert a couple of years ago. Still a very funny  comedian. He probably makes more money doing tours than appearing on tv and his act doesnt have to pander to the pc brigade
