I think the chances of being caught by the police are minimal at best.  I have to go to work a couple of days a week to check the office hasn’t burnt down and deal with any mail that’s arrived. I live well outside Edinburgh.  There’s no chance of you being caught either driving into Edinburgh or on public transport.  Roads are much busier than the lockdown last year.  Walking about Edinburgh is quiet, but there’s no way you’ll get stopped in the street as you can reasonably be a local going for a walk or on the way to your shopping.  The only realistic risk is if he flat has a revolving door and someone shops them to the police for the number of visitors.

Very unlikely to get caught, even if you get stopped, just make up any excuses and be nice to them, i.e don't challenge them.

for me, I won't wait until we go into tier 3 or 2, life is too short to wait.
