just as everyone of a certain age claims they were regulars at the cavern so every scot has met connery. I came across him in charlotte square, he had come out of david murrays office, (owner of rangers at the time), he was assisting a young lady into a car, on the passenger side, something that was common back in the day, like holding doors open etc, but now rare, i made a pleasantry that i thought at the time was quite witty, but quickly regretted, he looked ashen faced and pretty stressed, trouble is everyone in scotland felt entitled to approach him, i also passed him in george st, he and his wife were doing the celebrity walk, which is looking into the sky as if greeting a landing spacecraft, celebs do this as they cannot afford to give eye contact, his wife , was wearing expensive tweeds, always the sign of a foreigner in Edinburgh. Biographical reminiscence part one.

Who would have thought 007 would be eventually replaced by a woman.

Sean Connery is probably rollling in his grave right now

WHAT !  The original and best 007. Made many good films apart from being James Bond. Sad news indeed.

I guess he's been cremated in the Bahamas so raise a glass of good whisky to him if you go there.

There's a movement to have a statue of him in Edinburgh, quite rightly so in my opinion.

Naturally there's some feminazis opposed to it.

Whoa! Calm down, gammon...

As far as I'm aware, in the latest film installment, James Bond is supposed to have retired from MI6 (similar to the original Ian Fleming-penned events at he beginning of The Man with the Golden Gun), with his previous code number naturally having been given to another agent - who happens to be female in this case. That is all.

This isn't a case of the Bond character somehow becoming a woman, which would simply never work. It's simply an interesting plot innovation in order to effectively progress the long-running franchise's current cycle of characters - something I think Connery himself would praise, if he even bothered to care.

Gammon? Im not white....

And i did say 007 is a woman , not James Bond.

Looks like you scanned my statement and jumped to a conclusion yourself.
