Author Topic: Help, can't get ukpunting on ipad! (Read 1096 times)

Can only get ukp on my phone, when I try on my iPad it loads up but I get a blank screen everytime. I have looked into the privacy restrictions and nothing is blocked. Can get everything else including porn. Help!

Are you using a proxy server or VPN? Is the page completely blank or is there a message.

This may be an obvious question but have you tried switching it on and off?

Using which browser? Download a different one and see if that helps

Just a guess, have you blocked the site's cookies? As this happens when the new UK mandated popup asks "do you want to accept cookies from....yes/no" If you click no all you get is a blank page on going to it from then on in.

If so, I presume you are using Safari given its an Ipad, but to try and fix it.

Click on Safari in the top Menu Bar>Go to Preferences>Select Privacy>Click on the details box under Cookies and other website data>Type in Ukpunting >Select it >Click on the Remove box>Click on Done.

Or just try another browser, Firefox Focus or Opera is what I would suggest.

Thanks for the replies, all good suggestions and yes I have tried turning off and on

Think it's down to my wifi, I accidentally turned on wifi on my phone and it then wouldn't pick up ukp either. Turned it back to 4G and it's fine again. I live in a shared house with someone else controlling wifi so don't want to ask them.

Don't know too much about the server but will changing to proxy/VPN sort this?

At the moment my iPad just shows a blank screen with no message.

No, you won't get on at all using a VPN, they are blocked, if you try you get a message something like 'due to trolls this page is unavailable' on the page, that's why I asked if you were using one.

Ok cheers daviemac, I'll just have to use my phone as a WiFi hotspot, should sort it.

Strange how porn is absolutely fine, ukp is the only thing I can't get on.

If you are using the phone as a wifi hotspot, that generally means you are converting the phones 3G/4G to Wifi.

Does that mean you've been using your phones 3G/4G to connect to here? Or have you been using the same Wifi on the phone that you cannot connect with on the Ipad?

No probs. it does seem a bit odd, I wonder if it's anything to do with the ISP. don't suppose you can do much about it though.

I always have my phone on 4G as I get better reception even when at home. My iPad is WiFi only, so if I use my phone as a hotspot then I'll be using the phone's 4G which should work but haven't tried it yet.

You should have said that in your first post. As that puts a whole different context on this.

Given your Wifi allows you to access porn on the Ipad and not here. I would say its likely an HTTPS issue. Either that or the porn sites you are going to are obscure and thus not on any filters.

You could try changing the DNS on the Ipad to 1.1.1.1 or 9.9.9.9 as it could be your ISPs DNS blocking access to here.

If that doesn't work. Try pinging and then running a traceroute on your iPad to here (there are free apps to do so) to see which hop is dropping the packets. Try doing the same on the routers config page itself. (i.e the one usually logged in by going to 192.168.1.1)

You could also check if the date and time is correct on the Ipad as if that is not correct, you wont get into here.

Was staying in an IHG hotel a few days ago, and as my phone provider is blocking adult content (at present due to a PAYG sim for a punting phone), and can't use a VPN here, decided to use the free hotel wifi.
Got a message saying something along the lines of "due to abuse from trolls, you can't access this site" (UKPunting). AW etc are fine.

Bit of a pain as I was trying to arrange a meet and wanted to see which women had good or bad reviews and couldn't do so.

You must've been trying to access using a VPN, either by design or unknowingly and you can't, they are blocked.
