Perhaps a potential treatment would be a drug which made the older immune system work like it was younger? In some way stimulated it to be so?

Isn't this the way some potential anti-cancer drugs are going now, enable the immune system to detect problems and deal with them early on at a cellular level?

I think you're referring to the tree of life.
I believe once you start messing with nature, you're asking for trouble. If you up-regulate the immune system I would guess other systems of the body would suffer side effects that could be fatal. A bit like putting a more powerful engine into a car and not installing the correct suspension and brakes to match.
As we age we degenerate; that's life! it's all about the ability of our cells and whether they can continue to divide and multiply. That's why exercise and diet play a crucial role in life. use it or lose it and good clean fuel in the system.

If you do have any references to what you said above I'd be interested if you'd post a link.   :hi:

Never heard that phrase, but I'm well aware that every reaction has a reaction, every drug or procedure will potentially have undesirable side-effects.

Many diseases are of course caused by an 'overactive' immune response in any case.

But if a way can be found to harness the power of the immune system in a selective way, then it might be part of the future fight against disease?

Prevention is better than cure ww.
Unfortunately, there will always be disease, and a lot of it self inflicted; Whether it be at a personal level or at the level of how our society conducts itself. ie, Pandemics: History & Prevention - External Link/Members Only

Thanks for the unbiased review Nuts, I would be interested in you doing the same review for the Daily Mail.

I don't read the Daily Mail, and when I have visited it, I think their website is truly awful.

Really, and almost inexplicably bad.

I believe it is the most read online paper in the world.

Apparently so. Baffling.

I believe it is the most read online paper in the world.

Most read and most influential are perhaps different things.  As might be most believed or most respected.
Plenty of victims and consumers of click-bait who form no positive opinions about the purveyors of the bait.

I believe it is the most read online paper in the world.

That’s because it free, who in their right mind would pay for it?
In 2nd place is the NYT one of the worlds great newspapers, which has a paywall.
