I did see a young woman by Kings Cross station yesterday afternoon around 3pm.
You would have thought it would of been way too early to see a street sex worker.
But she was just standing there by herself with half a top on and a short skirt. She looked out of place, even other people was staring at her.
It had been pouring with rain a little earlyer and she was dressed like she was aiming to seduce guys walking pass.
Maybe I am overthinking this, but it is quite possible she was looking for punters.
You would have to be a brave man to stop at her though as it was really busy with lots of people waling pass.
It's not members of the public that would bother me, but the million CCTV cameras, along with old bill, security guards and station staff.
I used to indulge during the bad old days in the early 80s and through to the early 90s.
In fact, for two or three weeks in 1983, I was between gaffs and stayed at a hotel on Argyle Square, with girls on duty visible from my bedroom window
I was always on foot, and the WGs would often have little nooks they would take punters along York Way and Goods Way, if the punter wasn't in a car. I remember a ilttle alcove had an old bit of carpet on the ground for the WG to get down on her knees!
The last time I was asked "are you looking for business" was in about 1993. When I said yes, she hailded a black cab, and I was taken to a flat in a council estate in a part of North London I didn't know. It was a nightmare! Later I realised she approached punters just far enough away from the Kings Cross cab rank so the cabbie would take the fare and not direct her and the punter to the cab rank. BTW, I paid the fare, not the SP.
But back to today. Nothing would induce me to attempt a punt in Kings Cross since the regeneration/redevelopment. How would it work? If you were in car it would be risky to try and stop. And where would you take her? Or would she take you somewhere? If you were on foot, where would you go? There is no way I'd get in a cab again, without knowing where I was going.
