Is the room visible form the front desk?

I'm afraid there's not much you can do to go in unnoticed. The entrance hall is really small, so there's no way you can avoid that guy.

The stairs and lift are just straight down, and can clearly be seen from the reception desk. I was waiting for the lift for quite some time, and the guy had nothing else to do other than stare at me.

The room is on one of the upper floors, so at least he has no clue where you're going, one would hope.

Just relax, as long as you look like you belong there, it's fine, I'm sure he won't say anything.

If it's one of the blocks, that I've known for years (friends in some) and used to punt in, more than ten years ago, they do have some wealthy individuals living in them. Always did have plus 'selected' Civil Service/Government people (as did CC, before the hookers moved in). Security has always been there - one, sometimes two concierges and CCTV covering reception and every floor.

A concierge/security might engage, if a visitor looks furtive/suspicious/nervy - as many punters do. Visitors will be tracked to the flat they're going to. Most of those mansion blocks, in Kensington and Chelsea, have security and CCTV. Flats aren't usually visible, directly, from reception.
