Author Topic: 'Rush Surcharge' – and Other Bizarre Special Requirements and Conditions  (Read 5347 times)

Offline Vice Admiral

Don't girls realise how off-putting it is when they set down eccentric or bossy special conditions?

For example, under her Additional Info tab, Sugarx23 has this:
"PLEASE NOTE:  Any bookings with me last-minute (3 hours before proposed time) will incur a £30 ‘rush’ surcharge."

What would happen to the British economy if all workers applied "rush surcharges"?

It doesn't bear thinking about.

I'm not surprised it's slow at the minute considering some of the hoops they impose.
Is it any wonder  :unknown:

Might be an idea  for them to accept unwanted xmas gifts? Suppose loads of socks not go down to well  :D

Personally i'd swerve her for taking the piss whereas if she was slow for business and dropped her rates just to get punters in "Last minute.com" style she would always be busy.
I'm also thinking she may well drop punters bookings to accept a late one for the extra cash

Every business I can think of charges extra for certain things. For instance if my clients want me to deliver something fast I charge extra. If you want to catch the train at peak times it costs extra. You can choose to pay or not. It's called normal business.

It's slow for ALL business. Retailers, for instance, are having a hard time. It's a combination of the election, general uncertainty and the fact that for any business not linked to Christmas things are always slow. Only charities tend to do well. Pussy is not a charity.

Offline winkywanky

Quite correct.

Whether, depending on her circumstances a short notice booking actually incurs extra expense for her, or perhaps she just prefers more notice, it's down to her whether she charges more for this or not.

It means she'll generally get more notice from guys booking her, but it also means it'll either piss off or make it impossible for some other guys to book her.

At least she's being up-front about it I guess.

Looking at her additional info, it seems she has a 'day-job' so I should imagine she fits in AW with that, hence the preference for more notice.

Obviously the AW pays a damn sight better than her day-job, but perhaps she does lose out from that if she takes a last-minute AW booking? Depends on what her other job is of course, and how flexible that is, she'd have to get herself away from that and perhaps arrange cover or something?

But it seems she's not full-time doing AW, and doesn't sit somewhere waiting for her phone to ring for a whole day.

Never heard of a "Rush Surcharge".

Hope Michael O' Leary of Ryanair doesn't read this site  :)

He doesn't have to, the Ryanair booking algorithm already screws you for every penny.

At the very outset, when you're interested in a flight and come back later to actually book it (perhaps within the same hour), their system knows it's you again, that it has you 'hooked' and will ramp up the price for no good reason. Or, you're late to the game and there's not many seats left now, so the price goes up because they know they're going to fill the plane and they have you over a barrel.

I guess the latter is normal and all carriers will do that, but I have experienced the former and I think it's really shitty.

As for coming from a poor country, how about being (relatively) poor in a rich country?  :D

Going back to when Ski Bunnies was in it's prime, you used to see a lot of offers, along the lines of "Book for 4 days or more, and I'll pay my own air fare". Golden Bunnies was similar before it went down.

To be fair, it's possible many of them do have degrees.

Being able to spell properly let alone string a few coherent sentences together is not a pre-requisite these days, nor is being able to add up to any particular degree, hence the chaotic price structures many of them have.

And not forgetting a propensity for the misuse of apostrophes and the word 'defiantly', as well as 'I am a fiesty women'  :D.
