I understood what he was referring to; just seemed to add literally nothing to the conversation
Seems kind of bizarre to me that you think I was behaving like a twat when all I asked was a fairly innocuous question and received what seemed like a snarky response.
This seems to be the crux of it from where I'm sitting. I understand you want users to contribute more, but responding to simple questions with that kind of attitude seems really counterproductive to that aim. What's everyone's beef with new users asking questions here? If you don't want to answer, don't respond? It's really not that difficult. I'm not asking someone to write a fucking thesis for me. If someone had been there recently all they'd need to do is respond with a few sentences; doesn't take more than a minute or two. I'm in plenty of other communities where people are able to tolerate simple and even repetitive questions from new users without being a cunt.
Whatever. Ban me. I'll just sign up again through a different VPN.
The CRUX of it is, you joined over a year ago and have only asked for indulgence. Whether you have been an active selfish punter or a procrastinator or abstemiously faithful to your partner we don't know. We do know that you've not been collaborative and there are a vast majority exploiting this resource for free and often spoiling SPs for the rest of us (demanding, disrespectful behaviour; over-tipping; whining about services not offered; talking about UKP; telling SPs they should charge more). YOU chose to try to overtly exploit the good (spiky) nature of this community by asking for more than it had already substantially given without offering anything by way of trade or in good faith.
You could've dropped in to the establishment to suss out the current offering under no obligation to indulge and waste your money, as other newbies have done with other places, before coming to enquire.
By all means, if you get banned, re-sub and lurk, perhaps you'll get banned for using a VPN (or known IMEI, MAC, browser fingerprint, etc), perhaps you'll try the same behaviour and get banned again, but if you want to interact then you'll need to change your approach in order to endure.
