Highly unlikely that most punters have an anxiety disorder.
Mild anxiety is perfectly normal in some circumstances. It's smart for some punters to be a little paranoid - e.g. if they have wives or high profile jobs - the risk of being outed while very small, could have serious consequences.
To over simplify a little, we're all social creatures, so we're affected by the "shamefulness" of punting in the eyes of wider society. That said, the lefty media probably make it seem like there's more stigma against punting than is really the case. Depending on how the question is worded, you can get slim majorities of the public in favour of sex work.
External Link/Members Only Then there's the inner question of whether we're doing something that's exploitative to women? I might change my mind if the prevalence of trafficking continues to rise, but I think on balance we're not.
Personally I don't feel that paranoid about punting, I think it helps that there's been 4 or 5 guys at work plus a couple I've met socially who openly punted. Admittedly none of those examples were in the last 3 years.
