Punting after surgery....

Hi folks, just a quick one - looking for some views.... i had a minor procedure done at hospital nearly a month ago. The result of this is that i have been wearing a dressing over a cut that has been left in rather an intimate area which is now nearly healed over, but still results in the dressings having a small deposit of blood on them despite me changing them daily...

However, this isnt something that affects me physically in any other way, and to be quite frank, i have needs! would you think it was reasonable to book something like a face sitting/ hj combo where there is very little chance of any cross contamination, obviously making any sp aware of the situation before any meet. Or is this a rediculous idea that shouldnt be considered until im fully healed?

Just after some considered opinion from the floor on this??

I used opsite waterproof dressings recently to keep a wound waterproof, nothing can get in or out. Use your regular dressing underneath and put this over the top.

Good call TT, yep, they are exactly the dressings that they use in hospitals (if your local Health Authority can afford them) after an operation, hence the name. Means you can have a shower soon after an op. instead of festering in your hospital bed (although the downside of that is that you're less likely to get a bed bath off a fit young nurse  )

You are fine. Make sure you top up on your pain killers and stick to one position.

I used opsite waterproof dressings recently to keep a wound waterproof, nothing can get in or out. Use your regular dressing underneath and put this over the top.

When I had my appendix out a few years back I tried using those to cover the wound while showering and they weren't a lot of use. They weren't waterproof and didn't stick well.
What I ended up using were giant plasters intended to cover colostomy stoma, they worked well.
You can get them over the counter at pharmacies. Not their intended use, but they work.

Although not completely relevant. I've had bi-lateral leg surgery and groin area and found these waterproof  leg covers very good to shower in

I agree about opsite use it to reduce scaring / protect non infected wounds.

Going to be hard to strap his bollocks into one of those though, unless there's a finger protector in "large"

cling film and duct tape?

scavy stronger option, crisp packet and duct tape 

ive used superglue on small wounds/cuts to seal them up

also as you sweat, that will increase the risk of shedding whatever you stick on yourself

Sorry your mileage was different to mine Scutty, I even managed to go in the pool on holiday with those babies on. I admit there’s a knack and  I wasted a few sections until I got the hang of how to apply it successfully.

Yes, you have to try to lay the skin down dead flat (cleaned and dried thoroughly first) and then apply the dressing firmly and with no wrinkles.

It'll adhere strongly and wrinkle with your skin as you move, maintaining a perfect seal. I always found them to be very effective.
